What is the game like today?

Post by WOLFWOLVES » Sun Jun 16, 2019 12:19 am

Hello.

I started playing WolfQuest as a child a decade ago, beginning in 2009.
I believe the last time I had logged in may had been a few years ago.

I reckon a considerable amount has changed since then - community and gameplay wise. Or maybe not?

How is the game today? How many individuals still regularly play? Is the game itself supported well (financially?)

...What happened to that pesky chat system that seemed to be ever problematic? LOL. I recall the changes. It went from being moderately filtered, to strongly filtered, and the players often used different spelling and language to cross those boundaries. Eventually, it evolved into a completely different chat, only allowing a drop-down menu of "phrases". I bet this killed the role-play scheme of public servers. Did this affect the popularity of the game? How is the chat system today?

And, if by chance a developer is reading my post... I hope you know, you made a young wolf-fanatic extremely impressed and fascinated in a game I previously could only dream of. I thought it was the greatest game on Earth. Its all I would do as a kid, for a very long time, and it opened a world of friendships for me.

Thanks.

Wow, look at that! My old signature. That evokes both feelings of embarrassment and nostalgia.

I'll keep it though. :D

With the introduction of WolfQuest 2.7, much has changed, but it's the same WolfQuest game that has been around for a while. The game still gets plenty of players, there's usually at least a dozen available multiplayer games in the multiplayer lobby. As for how the game is doing financially, WolfQuest 2.7 costs about $10, and all future development of the game is funded by sales (which you can read more about at the link below).

There is also a page where players can donate to further development of the game, which will also be linked below.

The chat system in WolfQuest 2.7 has ditched the old lexicon chat (which was very strict and hard to use) and replaced it with a new chat system that is much easier to use. There is also still phrase chat, and for players under the age of 13, this is the only chat system available. The new player accounts system makes reporting bad behavior and making friends much easier as well.
WolfQuest 3: Anniversary Edition and the new Tower Fall episode are currently in development. Forum topics regarding them will be linked below.
