Running Through the Woods on a Snowy Evening

Wolves are well equipped for snowy evenings, and we’ve been putting a lot of effort into creating game environments to suit them. In this video, many different graphics techniques that we’ve been working on finally.come together. Dynamic weather system means it can snow at any time (even in early fall!). As it snows, the ground is gradually covered with a white blanket, and now the trees are too. And of course, the snow also accumulates on the animals themselves.

It’s a short video this week because much of our time this week was absorbed with technical issues following a software upgrade, and of course the holidays themselves. We’re still making progress toward release, but perhaps we’ve finally learned our lesson and have not announced a release date yet.

Happy howlidays!

The snow is so beautiful. And love the snow effect on your wolf :wolf:

Question
If the snow lands on your wolf's nose. Will the wolf most likely sneeze if it's tickling it? Now that would be so cool if it did.

Nice footage of some solid dashing through the snow. I love the look of the snow getting caught in the fur (and you picked a good coat colour to show it off on)!

All best wishes for the holidays! <3

It looks really good. One question will your wolf and other animals leave tracks making it easier to track them? Keep up the good work.

I love the snowy trees. The only thing that seems a little off to me is the saturation of the bushes and saplings against the snowy landscape. However, it would make sense because this is late fall, and the vegetation hasn't really succumbed to frost yet. The snowflakes look so fluffy and heavy! Good work! :D

Beautiful update -- I'm really enjoying the changes in weather conditions. WolfQuest has come a long way since 2007.

So beautiful! I absolutely adore the snowy forest there, and the little detail of the snow accumulating on the wolf itself!

This is beautiful! I love the effect of the snow piling on the fur of the wolf.

It's so wonderful to see the game reach a level that was only dreamed of back in 2007. If child me were able to see this today, they would be crying in joy.

Wow. It looks gorgeous *^* The surroundings being affected by the snow like the trees and the fur, I can see so much detail and thought that is going into this.
I'm amazed by how far this game has come. Looking at 2.5 and 2.7, and now this, it's a huge leap.

Thanks Dave for the update~

Ahh! Happy howlidays!!! I don't care about the length of the video (as long as it is longer than a millisecond), and it was pretty. Beautiful, absolutely stunning. The wolf looked so cute and fluffy acting like it was summer and running through a snowy forest ground that's pulling up the blankets of winter and taking a nap under them. So pretty!!! Thank you, Dave!

Wow, it looks beautiful!
I cannot wait until I'm running through the winter woods as one of my wolves.
I loved the music with it, too.
I'm always so impatient for Thursday to arrive because of these videos!
Thanks for working hard at this game. :)

The snow effects are so magical! I don’t get much snow down where I live, so just playing around in a digital snowy environment is enough to make my day. Look at those trees! The team never ceases to surprise me. Early on, I remember it being mentioned that the trees may not be able to accumulate snow in the same way that the animals’ coats can, but you all have gone out of your way to prove yourselves wrong. Amazing! I’m so excited to witness the other surprises that this release has to offer. Happy Howlidays! I hope everyone enjoys the season!
