Welcome, to the Wolves of Beinn Eighe.
Website: http://wolvesofbeinneighe.freeforums.net/
First, a note from yours truly;
I wanted to create a pack which anyone could join, no matter their RP skill: It’s something you get better at with time, and practice. We can work on it together, if you try to keep it to at least a couple of sentences per post, you’ll be golden. It also doesn’t matter how long you’ve been a member on WQ, whether you joined five years ago or five minutes ago. I want it to be a forum for anyone and everyone to express themselves creatively through RP and other means. Think of it as an artistic assemblage.
It's also a cool way to be able to share a little of Scotland’s history and culture with the rest of the world. It’s such a beautiful country and I think it deserves more recognition, other than the stereotypes associated with it and its people.
Humans will exist (this is so that you are able to freely choose the species of wolf, for example; arctic wolf, and still have a legitimate way of them having been in the UK, I.e. humans having that species brought over.) It will be set in the past, before the wolves were wiped out in Scotland, there may also be slight differences in history/geography. So, an alternate universe, but not so different from ours. It will be semi-realistic. There’s hierarchy, longer life spans, intelligence/knowledge a normal wolf wouldn’t possess etc, but nothing too extraordinary.
--
The pack makes its home at the base of ‘Beinn Eighe’ (BEYN EEAR), a peak belonging to the ‘Torridon Hills’, found in the Scottish Highlands. The pack’s main freshwater source is the beautiful Loch Maree, to the East of Beinn Eighe.
The pack’s origins lie in the mountains of Am Monadh Ruadh (AM MONNA-ROO-A,) their original home being made on Beinn Mheadhoin (BEYN VEE-AN,) approximately 146 miles from the current territory. They had tense relationships with neighbouring packs, increased due to the prime location of their territory. Eventually the tension became too much and despite the attempts of each leader to pacify their members; they were unable to prevent the oncoming violence. After 2 days it finally stopped, leaving many dead and more wounded. The surviving chieftains managed to call for a treaty, before returning to their homes.
The Pack of Beinn Mheadhoin left the slopes of their territory. Their home had become a graveyard, and they couldn’t live there knowing what had happened. They travelled for many miles until they came upon the deserted Beinn Eighe where they settled down, determined to start afresh.
Ever since the treaty, the packs have held a yearly gathering at a meeting place on Beinn Mheadhoin, marked by the Shelter Stone, an enormous boulder topped by a cairn (human made stack of stones.) These days, even packs who had not been a part of the original fight join the gatherings. It is not mandatory to go every year, however many of the packs attempt the journey at least once every 3 years, depending on the distance they must travel. Pack’s that are closer tend to attend each year. The gathering is held during the Summer months, as this is when a large herd of red deer make their way through Am Monadh Ruadh. Some wolves are known to spend some time at the former territory of the Wolves of Beinn Mheadhoin (now Beinn Eighe) re-named “Meadhoin Comraich” (VEE-AN COMRAICH) or “Meadhoin Sanctuary.”
Not all of the packs however, are happy with this arrangement. There are two packs, “Wolves of Ben Alder,” and “Loch a 'phasgan” (“Lake Pack”) who still harbour feelings of animosity towards their fellow Highland dwellers.
