Thought I'd share this with you all. My condolences go out to the Meier family and his friends indeed, although his loss will certainly be felt in the wolf world, too.

DENALI PARK — Friends and colleagues were stunned this week to learn of the sudden death of longtime Denali wolf biologist Tom Meier. He was 61 years old.

One of the foremost experts on wolves in North America, Meier was found dead Tuesday night in his home in the McKinley Village. Friends went to check on him after he failed to show up for a wolf seminar at the Murie Science and Learning Center.

Cause of death was not immediately known. No services have been planned yet.
