I have 2 so far
AirJet was not that much help, but he did hunt a lot which was good. I'll give him a 5
WaterGem did ok, she get's a 4, she always is bringing pups to me when I am near an elk caresses, and that is ok, I guess. She did once move towards a pup when an eagle was near by, so that was also good. But she does lot's of bad things.

I've had only one mate so far. His name is Ardent.
I give him a 6, because he does try, even though sometimes he gets stuck on things and occasionally lets the pups wander a bit further than I'd like. Also, he doesn't really defend the pups at all. One of my pups, Iris, was killed by a coyote. Ardent wasn't with me at that time when I was hunting for food, which leads me to wonder, was he even paying attention to Iris at that time??? Oh well. Guess I have to work harder at this game then ever to make up for it. I've learned from the coyote incident though, to NEVER let coyotes near the den. NEVER AGAIN.

My mate and I on my old file (The profile with the game saved on it got infected and we had to delete it, so me my mate and pups are dead now! ) had a very cool way of doing things. I believe we each had "roles", or at least it seemed. My mate would do nothing to defend the pups, so I had to defend them. However, he started going hunting and always game back to feed the pups, and when he fed one they all got full! Then he went off to get more again. So what started to happen was: I stayed at the den and protected the pups from danger while he fed them. It was quite wonderful and I finished with three pups!

My mate is about 7-9

Good Points
She Hunts with me she feeds all the pups at the same time She dosent drop the pups in deep rivers and she respond to every howl my wolf makes and when im away she dosent follow me.

Bad Points

My mate never kills coyotes
She never ever ever ever Bites bears instead she runs away from them leaveing me to it
My mate sometimes picks up the pups and runs randomly somewhere (kidnaps it XD)
But she comes back with it

My mate dosn't do ANYTHING He will stay at the den and keep picking my pup/pups up and down up and down. A few times I hade to howl, pick up the pup, and run FAR away just to feed him/her. Then my mate followed me so he cold grab the pup again.( One time I only had one pup and I just decided to keep running awway and "live" elseware)
But he is realy good at hunting

I just do not care if he goes to the hunting groud. he always brings food and feed all the puppies (this version), he comes very close to the touch and is always looking for food, it is 1000, I have only to train the puppies and keep them safe

My mate was smart -- at some things. I had to make a system so that my pups could be fed and protected. While he hunted, I would stay and protect the pups. When he came back, I would run away and mark territory, eat off of carcasses, etc. Then I come back, fight all the coyotes, bears while my mate went hunting again. :D
Eh, how you doin?

My most recent had to have about 3 out of ten. I was soooooo mad at him when time for the journey came. The dang eagles thought it would be fun to take all of Arctic and Savar's pups besides Icis. Savar rarely fed the pups, and he did nothing to help carry or protect them! After the other three died, I refused to let go of Icis. He even abandoned me to hunt! Worst mate I've had... ever.
Sarene + Bannen = Haffal, Escance, Briita, and Kukoral.
Kaj + Kakugi = Faru, Soll, Jenette, and Savine.
Arctic + Savar = Cleopa (Dead), Pebble (Dead), Storm (Dead), and Icis.

My mate is pretty smart so to say, I never compleatly got that far within the single player game to say exactly. Winter would however, go pick up a pup once it stray one foot away from the den and plop it right next to the den enterance. However, I do believe she ran off with it the second time she picked it up... maybe she just didn't like that pup.

but on a scale? I would have to say, 7/10

My mate is pretty decent; he will leave and come back repeatedly and feed the pups. But, he doesn't protect them whatsoever, and in AM he just barges into the elk herd  . True, he doesn't run around in crazy circles anymore, but now he will slooooowly trot away in some random direction. It's annoying... but him feeding the pups comes in handy.

I'd say my mates are usually 7/10. They don't protect pups much, but they sometimes get food for them. My mates also don't get in my way, which is a big plus.

My one mate was VERY SMART! He hunted, fed my pups, and on the final mission he helped carry my pups to where I was. How ever, my other mate :( not so good... He was fine until SC. Once I howled at the begining of the game, he howled and started walking in a straight path toward canyon cliffs. But he kept running into the imagenary (excuse my spelling) wall. Then I didn't save and got out, the same thing happened when I went back in but to Aspen this time. Even when I picked out a den... Oh well, just vote with my smart one, TEN!
