No Multiplayer option in Beta

I am a bit of a mess despite playing this game since 2011. In Beta after taking all steps to update it and make sure all files were converted with the updates, I do not get a Multiplayer button. Is it hidden behind another screen, am I skipping a step or is it just me. After scanning forums I seem to not be able to relieve this myself, anyone able to help?

If you are opted into the public beta, verify that the title scene reports you are on version 1.0.5 beta42.

Go to 'New Game'. Where it says Mode, click the dropdown menu that currently reads 'Single Player' and select either 'Create Multiplayer' to start a new session or 'Join Multiplayer' to enter the lobby.

You won't be able to access the multiplayer beta on a Mac.
