Having troubles with spoilers in signatures

Hi guys!
So... I went to edit my signature, because I wanted to shove this big, elaborate poem into a spoiler because why the heck not!
Well... every time I hit the button "Preview", it showed the signature above, but the formatting was all messed up! Instead of THIS:

Here is a proper spoiler that actually works!

I got THIS:

So I kept editing it over and over and over again, trying to mess with the formatting and see if I could fix anything. Nope. What I wanted to have was the current sig I have now, and then put the spoiler below it. But the spoiler isn't working. What can be done to fix the glitching signature spoilers?

Does the same thing happen with the main spoiler code?

Yes, it does. I started out with the spoiler code first --and then I switched to the spoil code, hoping it would fix something.
And I want to use a spoiler specifically, because the spoils are kind of bright, and the spoilers aren't. Do I need to do something weird like remake the signature I have now (erase it and then recreate the same thing) and then add the spoiler-poem before I submit it, or something random like that?

I just tested the spoiler in my own signature and it works just fine, and now I have a theory on what the problem may be. You say your poem is big and elaborate, perhaps it exceeds the character limit of your signature?

No... I doubt it. Well, maybe. It would probably would have said that it exceeded the character limit if that's what had happened. That, and it still wouldn't have made it the code visible when the hit the "Preview" button. It wasn't just the spoiler's code that was visible, it was the entire signature that glitched out, including the color code and bold code for the current signature I have now. Just wanted to clarify that fact because I thought maybe I made it sound like it was just the spoiler that was acting buggy.
