I love that the team is drawing from life. Exploring Yellowstone through WolfQuest has been an amazing experience all these years. One day, I hope to see the real thing.
I had a fun little interaction the other night. I had wandered around awhile and after a little nap two male dispersal wolves came to court me when we were suddenly and rather rudely interrupted by a cougar! The darned cougar charged right at me but the two suitors bravely charged right in and foug...
I’ve witnessed something similar where two cougars were neck to neck in combat. At first I was confused, but then I finally realized what they were doing, haha. Pretty neat touch!
I never even try to fight bears. Cougars are difficult to fend off, so I usually end up giving up or waiting them out as well. Coyotes are easier, but if I’m alone and there are more than two, I avoid the trouble. Stranger wolves tend to be difficult to fight off alone—even if it is one-on-one—so I ...
I recently ran into a silvery female from the Canyon pack. I named her Iyanu. She couldn’t be a better mate, haha. Moderately energetic, socially charming, and bold, she’s been very helpful in hunts and wolf-fights alike. But in spite of her boldness, Iyanu also falls back for my reinforcement. In w...
I've been on a hunting trial with one of them as well--particularly the red-coated Beartooth male. He seemed like quite the loner. A bit lazy, too, but quite bold. He was quicker to jump into a wolf-fight than he was to help bring down a kill, which probably explains why he's such a formidable oppon...
Markers showing up on the compass (like the hunting grounds and territories of the old game) would be REALLY helpful, I often find myself checking my map to find I'm going in the wrong direction. I completely agree. Being able to see the wind direction on the compass like the old game would be help...
I haven't really kept mates for long, simply because I've been picky when it comes to their diversity, pelt colour, and overall personalities. On my first run, I met a very energetic and seemingly social female who often wagged her tail in the midst of running or walking, glanced at me, and huddled ...
The team has done an amazing job launching and managing the game thus far. I have lots of respect for all the work that you all have put into the game. It really shows.
My experience with stranger wolves has been pretty thrilling, haha. I've killed one once, but only with the help of my mate. Fighting lone wolves seems to be a lot easier than scaring off a group, I agree. Even then, I tend to flee from fights in general.
Thank you for these tips! I’ll have to try some of these out.
Luckily, I’ve gotten a little better at hunting elk calves and cow elk. It all seems to boil down to patience and strategy—two traits that I need to learn to strengthen, haha.
