Let’s watch grass grow! Yes, we’ve finally got some of the new vegetation for WolfQuest 3: Anniversary Edition ready to plant on the terrain. So settle in and watch some fast-paced action-packed world construction!

A few notes:
* Our Amethyst Mountain map features two vegetation communities: sagebrush-steppe and forest.
* Idaho fescue and mountain big sagebrush are the two most common plants in the sagebrush steppe community, but we will be adding others, like rabbitbrush, pine grass, and mountain brome.
* Idaho fescue is a nutritious part of every elk’s diet.
* Mountain big sagebrush is also important to elk, especially in the winter when it’s often the only plant that sticks above the snow.
* The sagebrush shown here is just one model; Kerry will make some variations with different branch structure.
* The forest community is composed of Douglas-fir on lower slopes and a mix of lodgepole, Englemann, and subalpine fir at higher elevations. The trees you see here in the distant forest still uses one of the old tree models; Kerry is working on new and improved Douglas-Firs right now.

If you missed earlier videos about the terrain, check them out!

You can see more about the real world vegetation of Yellowstone in WolfQuest Goes to Yellowstone: Amethyst Mountain

And stay tuned for a future video about — yes, you guessed it — trees!

The grass is absolutely beautiful! I love how things are all coming together. It's looking more and more like the real Yellowstone with every update. I just hope that my computer can handle the improved graphics when it comes out. I'd love to play on a fairly high quality level!

Holy cow! This looks great- I can only hope it will run on my PC :P

If we can run the game on Good or higher now, will we be able to run Wolfquest 3.0?

I've been eagerly waiting for posts about the vegetation since I first heard about the game!
I know grass seems like a minor thing, but it is actually is a crucial competent important for the whole experience of the game. So, for me at least this is a much appreciated addition to the game. It looks very beautiful and detailed!

Do you have a idea what graphics card it will require?

Dang, this grass is gorgeous! It looks almost photorealistic! I cannot wait to try it out for myself-- amazing job, you guys!

And for everyone asking about the graphics card you'll need to run this, I'd imagine lower quality options will be available for the game as well. This is showcasing its potential, but most computers don't really have the power needed to handle something like this, so I'm sure less beautiful but more system-friendly options will be available too.

This makes me so happy. I've always loved the overworld of Wolfquest, so seeing it come to life in new and dynamic ways is so exciting~. Keep up the great work team, we're all excited, I think!

Does this mean that we should keep an eye on areas with more of these for where elk will hang out, or is this just a fun fact?
