What are experience points and ranks? What do they do?

From chasing off predators to hunting and taking down prey, as you play WolfQuest either on your own or online with other players, your wolf will accumulate experience points. Experience is tracked in the Pack Stats interface while in-game. During the second episode, total experience will also be displayed on the player badge shown on the top left corner of the game screen.

As you earn points, new things should become available to you within the game. Here’s what’s programmed:
  • 750 points: unlocks dispersal wolves in Amethyst Mountain/Lost River
  • 2,000 points: unlocks the ability to name pups
  • 7,500 points: unlocks the East Creek den in Slough Creek
  • 15,000 points: unlocks one white pup in Slough Creek
Notes: There is a 50% chance of encountering a dispersal wolf after earning the required amount of experience points.

Ranks

A wolf’s rank is determined by its experience! As of 2.7.3p2, players will find that a new section has appeared in their Account’s Achievements interface, within which eight ranks can now be found. These are only for show as an alternative means of bragging or boasting rights, and they do not interfere with gameplay or reflect your wolf’s actual age.

Ranks cannot be chosen and are instead calculated according to the experience point total of each individual wolf. That’s right ─ this total is per wolf! It is not global or otherwise counted across all of your wolves. In multiplayer, players can see each other’s ranks in the chat box and Pack Stats interface.
