Hunter’s Trail Cam Reveals Common Canine Hunting Tactics

I was browsing YouTube, and I came across a great video that demonstrates the common ungulate hunting tactics of some canine species, such as the gray wolf and the coyote.

The video is slightly graphic; it shows the bleeding hindquarters of a buck. But that’s it, and I think this is a great educational tool.

Wow! Thanks for sharing this Overcast! It is actually quite unique how the canines circle the deer, leaping in and nipping it several times before backing off and circling it some more until they are able to wrestle the deer all the way to the ground.
Quite interesting to watch. ^^
And the graphics wasn't too bad at all. I think you see more on the actual Wolfquest game after successfully hunting an elk.

I was pretty excited when I found it, and instantly thought of the community and the game. I agree, the WQ game does mirror the events in this video pretty closely. It does a pretty good job of potraying wild wolf hunting tactics, and hopefully those who see this will appreciate WQ a little more for it.

Hmm, that was interesting. But poor deer! Whenever I watch something like Wild Russia, and the wolves are hunting, I'm always voting for the wolves, but then I want the caribou to get away!
