This isn't really an awestruck news since it's quite clear that dingoes and Singers are the "missing link" between wolves and domestic dogs, and represent the very early versions of the tamed descendants of wolves utilized by humans. Basically, dingoes and Singers look how the first domestic dogs before humans started to fiddle and engineer the genetics of dogs and create designed breeds for different purposes.
Dingoes may be world's oldest dog breed
A new study has found the Australian dingo may be the oldest breed of dog in the world
March 18, 2010

An international study has found that the dingo, along with the New Guinea Singing Dog, are most like the dogs domesticated in Asia and the Middle East thousands of years ago.

Dr. Alan Wilton, from the University of New South Wales, says the two breeds are also the most closely related to wolves.

"There are a lot of physical and behavioral traits that are different between ancient dogs like the dingo and modern European dogs," he said.

"Dingoes don't bark, they howl; the New Guinea Singing Dog sings or howls. What this study is doing is supporting that information with genetic information.

"One of the interesting parts of the study is that it shows just how unique dingoes are and how very different they are from other breeds of dogs, particularly the European domestic dogs."

Imagine, if humans had not begun to develop and manipulate the genetic structure of dogs, every dog would still look exactly like these marvelous wild dogs. ^^

Weren't dingoes domesticated like 5,000 years ago? They migrated with their nomadic owners from Asia to Australia, where many of them now roam free. That's about all I know xD

Yes, it's hard to imagine now since we have developed such a great variety of dog breeds, but it's true. Every dog once looked exactly like dingoes and Singers. It was only when people realized that by combining certain dogs together possessing different anatomical and behavioral traits that the shape of dingoes and Singers began to manipulate, eventually resulting in the creation of different breeds. It only takes seven full generations to have a completely new kind of breed, so the development of dog breeds was very rapid at the beginning.

The Grey Wolf is the oldest of each and every dog breed.

But the New Guinea Singing Dog & Dingo, as you said, are the oldest

Cool to know, thank you!!
