African Wild dogs are one of my favourite canids, besides the wolf and the domestic dog.

i guess it's because their social structure appeals to me; like how the wolf pack social structure appeals to me.
or, I'm just a sucker for canids.

I think that AWDs have an even more close-knit social structure than wolves; they take food back from hunts to the sick and elderly members of the pack, etc. They rely so much on their family and they create very strong emotional attachments and bonds to their pack mates. It's very interesting and endearing.

I adore african wild dogs, they are such beautiful creatures with thier unqiue markings and they have such stiff legs from what I see; also their markings just look like they have been painted on which makes them more of an interesting Canid.

Also I do like their ears quite alot, again its another unqiue feature about these canids; they kinda remind me of Micky mouse ears to be honest ^^"

Over the last year I've been writing a novel on them-I've actually published it. But it's not shown to the public because it still needs some editing. And its not finished. Its over 420 pages and it's ALMOST half done..LOL. So I think I'll have to write two books :P It was a school project. I even drew the cover for it. It's a fictional story on African Wild Dogs while at the same time its educational on them.

These are some of my favorite wild canids. I've seen them at zoos and I think the St. Louis Wolf Sanctuary has some, I'm not sure. It's sad though that they are endangered, they are truly beautiful creatures. I love the markings on their pelt, and how it makes each one unique.

I love African Wild Dog's one of my favourite animals ^^. Their markings are as if they have just been painted on by an artist and I just think those big ears are very unique.

African Wild Dogs are beautiful! I love watching them at the local zoo, there always squealing and sounding happy. I love visiting their enclosure and just watching them. It's a shame their on the Endangered Species List and are the second most endangered species in Africa (first is the Ethiopian wolf).
