I have never heard about maned wolves. But now I have and they are somehow cute. They looked like foxes or coyotes when I looked at the pictures. But that's just my opinion

Thanks for posting this information, everyone! I have heard of the maned wolf and read a little about them, but the books I have read didn't have very much information on them and I didn't feel as if my knowledge of them was complete. This helped a lot with that, and thanks also for supplying those pictures. They were cute. :3 It makes me sad to hear about what they are having to go through in the wild. They are beautiful creatures. Perhaps this'll motivate other people to make boards about other little-known/endangered canids, such as the critically endangered Ethiopian wolf, etc. It'll hopefully raise awareness of these wonderful canines!

Yes I HEARD about it and I've seen a picture and it looked like a coyote with REALLY long legs

Maned Wolves are amazing. They are my second favourite canid. I've always shown lots of interest into this animal, perhaps I was first attracted to it due to its unique appearance - it looks quite like a long-legged fox to me. :3 The pelt colour is just beautiful.

This is absolutely great information! My main 'fursona', Faeloo, is a maned wolf. I've heard of the nickname "Red Fox On Stilts" before, and find it fits them very well. If you'd like to look at them, here are some sites I used to make Faeloo as realistic and close to the real thing as possible:

I've heard quite a lot about Maned wolves, don't know exactly much about them though ^^" Though by appearence, they look like very beautiful animals. They sort of remind me of a fox or Ethiopian wolves, due to the markings and the sort of body structure they have.

Plus thanks to those who put some information up about these animals, I shall perhaps have a good look through so I can learn more about them.

The maned Wolves baffle me in a way, they don't seem like Wolves at all, more like the Ethiopion wolves crossed with a Fox.

Maned wolves don't seem like wolves, because they aren't actually wolves at all. Maned wolves are mistaken for wolves due to their 'name', overly they aren't considered as actual wolves. They are actually more closely related to foxes (which would pretty much explain the canids appearance).
