General Raccoon Dog Discussion

I saw them in a zoo once, I love the way they look, and the sound they make, it's so cool. My mum loves them more than me though, like, WAY MORE! She has a huge poster of one in her room, she's crazy! ^^

Sounds cool ~ I personally have never seen them in a zoo, or in real life for that matter. I think it would be really interesting to see one though, as well as a good experience!

Indeed, thats one of the reasons of why I find them to be interesting, too :3 It's amazing of how animals can be so a like, yet may not relate closely at all.

I've heard of them but I've never seen a picture of them until now when I just looked them and and boy, do they look like raccoons! I actually thought they were raccoons until I remembered what I looked up.

I actually only heard of them recently, other then that I had no clue what they are or if they existed. Which sounds pretty strange I know. It's great though to find information like this on them, they seem to be very fascinating animals. Thanks for posting this Silv. :3

That doesn't sound strange at all! Actually, one of the reasons I put up this discussion specifically is because Raccoon dogs aren't that well-known, especially compared to other canids. Hopefully this thread will make people more aware of them and what not, though ;)

Indeed, they are pretty interesting canids, if I say so myself c: If you ever do plan on doing a report about them, I'm sure you'll find a load of information about them here and there, and, it'll be something different, hehe.

I have indeed heard of Raccoon Dogs before and I find them rather interesting. I have heard of them in a book, it was a book about species that aren't even heard of before and I found a section where it said everything about a Raccoon Dog. I think they are really cute. :3 They have bundles of fur and I have actually seen one at the zoo before on our field trip in 2nd Grade; which was a LONG time ago.

I do believe I've heard of these little guys before. ^_^ They are rather interesting animals and I find them to look kind of cute. Haha. I wish to be able to see one some day.
When I had first found out about them a few years ago when I was younger I was shocked to find out they were not closely related to the raccoon, or dogs for that manner. :P

Raccoon Dogs are cool animals, I saw one in my Dog Eyewitness book before and my friends did'nt know what it was, but it looked cute and really furry
