Could your household pet be just 99.8 % wolf?
Well i watched on T.V a program i think it was called. Martin Clunes a Man and his dogs. He met wolves, when to yellow stone, met the English Wolf Man ect... The specialists say that dogs are 99.8 % Wolf. If you think about it, dogs are like wolves in everyday life. They chase things? Turn around 50 million odd times before lying down. They listen to us as there alpha. When we get cross they submitt, like a pack of wolves. See if you can think of how many ways dogs are like wolves. How many can you think of?

Dogs aren't really a separate species. They're a subspecies of gray wolf. I betcha that the variance between domestic dog and wild type gray wolf is less than 1%.

Most of the differences would be slight mutations in the control sequences for the genes that code for coat color, coat texture, coat length, ear formation, body size, tail formation, eye color. Dachshunds have a further mutation in a gene that controls leg length.

My cousin disagrees with this,as our nan has a Westie.My cousin doesn't think Ramsay (the westie) is a wolf,although I have tried to explain that he is.I also watch this program,I think it's very interesting

is the 99.8% referring to genetic similarity?
just wondering, because you can really determine % from breeding lines.

and yeah, dogs are domestic wolves. Ive known that for a long time XD

Yea they are,but they are sooo different.Anyway,wolves are still more pretty in my opinion,and if i could,i would take a wolf as a pet

i allready knew this my whole entire life because before there were dogs indians and people started taking wolf pups from the wild and raising them and then they started cross breeding them

Yes, but most people say that the wolf was bred out of the dog! That is inpossible if dogs are 99.8 % wolf, it is fact that you cannot breed the wolf out of a dog completly, otherwise it wouldn't be dog.

when i was four i had a half wolf half husky. his name was Tanner and he was pure white. but we kept him for a few years until this man saw him and he thought that he was a wolf and he shot Tanner .

would u rather it be your pet? or out in the wild maybe even with a pack of its own?
