Since the start of the entire project in 2006, our budget adds up to less than 1% of Skyrim's budget.

Honestly, is a pointless comparison. Bethesda is a big company, with lots of appreciated games (as we can see Skyrim, Star Trek and Fallout), this means, obviously, more resources and more expensive games.

I think people expect too much from indie developers. The way they compare indie games to AAA games isn't even remotely fair.

Exactly. And whoever said that Greenlight games have to be brand-new with cutting-edge graphics? There's nothing wrong with a much-loved older game getting in there. It's annoying when people complain "These graphics look like they're from 2007".

Dave, maybe you should put something in that description about how long the game's been around, how many unique downloads it got pre-2.7, and the awards it's won?

That's a very good idea, especially the awards...

Also, it wouldn't hurt to add in positive quotes that notable people have said about the game. Like:

"The level of realism, and also the goal, which is to affect real conservation behavior change, is what makes this game unique."
Steve Feldman
American Zoo and Aquarium Association

and

"It's got great educational value while at the same time it's engaging. I think this game has the potential to chart some new territory."
David Walsh
National Institute on Media and the Family

By the way, could you add in 'Mate 2' ( in a patch to celebrate it's release on Steam? I found it on the Wolfquest youtube channel and it's the most gorgeous track ever, I really think it should be put in somewhere (though not replacing the 'Musical Flower' song, maybe for a pretty ambient music for Amethyst Mountain?). I'm pretty sure it's the song that's played when you wake up and stretch, but that's only a part of it.

I agree that the description could use some additions, and honestly don't think it could hurt to revise and change it to suit the Steam environment better. It might be worth pointing out WolfQuest generally targets a younger demographic (rather than serious gamers), especially with the Multiplayer chat rules in place. I doubt it is going to stop the trolls, but it may at least provide some context for the 'serious' gamers on there who expect some quality RPG or something.. Essentially, I think at the moment the target audience and goal of the game is a bit unclear, which might skew people's expectations.

Kipcha's note about pointing out how long the project has been going might be waise as well. That wouldn't just give some reasoning behind the 'dated graphics', but could also be nice for the nostalgic former players who weren't aware of the whole revival of the project. I believe I saw some people in the comments who didn't even know about Slough Creek; they seemed excited. Heh.

Good suggestions, thanks. I made some changes to the descriptions...then finally steeled myself to read the comments. Hey, they're really nice! Far far better than I expected. Even the negative ones are generally reasonable. And we're still holding steady at #15, which is just amazing.

I've also put in a link to duskypack's lovely MP video. Any other recommended videos I could add?

Great news! Changing up the description DEFINITELY makes a difference. I'm very glad that WQ is #15! Trying to encourage my Steam junkie friends to vote too! Many of them have kids, so I have to push the whole 'parenting' and 'education' spiel on them, and remind them how awesome educational games were back in our day.

I'm pleased with the progress that WolfQuest has been making on Steam - managing to keep stable at that point when in competition with other games is fantastic. I'll have to see if any people I know who have steam will vote for WQ to try and help out!
