Amethyst Mountain launch

Post by loboLoco » Thu Dec 20, 2007 9:26 am

Amethyst Mountain launches at 6:30 tonight, Central Time. The whole team has been working extremely hard to get this first episode of WolfQuest ready to launch today. If you're antsy, get a sneak peek by downloading the game manual right now--it's linked on the Game Info page.

After 6:30, the Download page will be linked up from the home page and Game Info page, so go to one of those pages to access it. But please don't keep hitting "Refresh" in the minutes before 6:30 CST--all that does is stress out our Web server. We'll be putting the game on several other servers to prevent the massive rush of downloads from overwhelming the server, as they did with the demo.

Alas, with all the things we had planned for Amethyst Mountain, we ran out of time before we could finish a few of them. So we're going to put them in an expansion pack that'll come out in February. These include: hunting with your mate (after you find a mate, in single-player), a social arena with other players (in multiplayer), and the grizzly bear (in both). Make sure you're on our mailing list so you hear about that when it's released.

Good morning, ^-^

Sounds good, but does this mean we can't play with other people? Or we just can't choose who we play with?

This is what it said in the game manual.
Multiplayer Game
In Amethyst Mountain multiplayer sessions you can explore Yellowstone, chat with each other,
harass coyotes, and hunt elk—especially powerful bull elk. Currently there are no stranger
wolves, but a Expansion Pack in 2008 will add this feature to multiplayer.

yes, there's definitely multiplayer. You can run around and hunt together, and chat, but there are no stranger wolves to interact with in the launch version of the game.

How do we meet each other in Multiplayer if there is no meeting room or whatever. Or is it random?

You create or join a room, then you get the map up then you can see where everyone else is who is playing, or when some joins the room. Hope this helped.

Yay i cant wait, thank you LoboLoco for letting us know. :) :D

Game Manual is coool :o

Here's some new info I found by reading (and printing ;D) it:
(DO NOT READ - if you want to wait until you find these out in the game)
- New keys like bite
- You can turn your wolf with arrow keys, a or w OR with the mouse!
- Dead wolves respawn near the Dead Tree
- There is a map!
- Area is bigger than in demo(?)
- Stranger wolves have scent trails
- You can have eight wolf characters (single player)!
- In multiplayer is two modes, open mode and private mode
Whisper in pain. In love again. It's scary.

I've not read the manual yet, but I'm going to now. Open Mode in multiplayer? Yay! Multi for all!

You're not paranoid. You know you aren't. At least you weren't, until they started coming after you.

It depends on your internet connection and how busy the server is, i am not sure of the average download time.
