Coyotes--the incredible adaptive canid

Post by WQ Project Coordinator » Mon Jul 30, 2007 12:22 pm

Coyotes are my favorite canid (besides my pet dog). They have shown their ability to adapt to new environments by living in suburbs, rural areas, and even major cities. Maybe you heard about the coyote that walked into a Quizno's Sandwich shop in downtown Chicago. It hopped into the beverage cooler until some animal control workers came to take it away. After examination, it was freed into a more suitable habitat.

I do know that they cause a lot of trouble for farmers and owners of small pets. I admire their adaptibility. So I don't know if I will be as eager to kill them off in the game when they try to take my dinner. I think a chase will suffice...

I LOVE cyotes! Where I live in AZ they will just sit and watch you while you horse back ride or while your working around the farm! They look like really gangly dogs (kind of like my dog)

Im very surprised that I have coyotes where I live -charlotte nc- google it and youll see what I mean. But the thing is I live in the more suburban part. Ive never seen a live one sadly, only a dead one by the side of the road . It wasnt a dog because my dad and I pulled up to it and it was a coyote alright.
I said that in another post. I still cant belive they live here.......

I like having coyotes around, there cool and eat rabbits, rats and stray cats so they help maintain pests. I feel that any wild creature belongs here just as people do, but recent developers have trashed local areas and so there are no animals. I mean NONE. I haven`t even seen a bunny.

I've seen some coyotes walking around town at night and I remember watching a story on the news about that coyote that walked into the Quiznos.

Wasn't his leg injured or something?

I like coyotes. (I like all animals, but bugs, well, bug me) They can be sooo adaptive, I mean look at the one in the Quizmos! I saw one once, just outside of Yellowstone. (My dad says it was a fox, but I know better)
