Okay, so these sugestions on helping wolves sound great but I was hoping for something more hands-on, if you know what I mean. Donating money is fine, but I am too young to get a job so I don't really have any income. I don't live in a state where wolves are present (there is some speculation on a "ghost pack" that is coming down from Wyoming but that's beside the point)... but I do volunteer at the local Humane Society. Is there anything else I can do? Something that will really make a difference, more than just donating money? I hope you can tell me what I can do so I don't have to just sit back watch from the sidelines. I want to do something more, and am willing to but I just don't know HOW. Thanks again.

http://www.defendersofwildlife.com/ The Defenders of Wildlife are an orginazation that protects wolves, and other animals.
Rodger Schlickeisen, Defenders of Wildlife wrote:

Late yesterday, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game made a tragic announcement:

Starting Monday, the department will begin selling an estimated 70,000 permits to hunt and kill wolves in Idaho. That’s 70 guns for each wolf mother, father and pup in Idaho!

Please help us STOP THE DEADLY WOLF HUNT.

This could be the worst wolf massacre in the Lower 48 United States since the 1930s. Hundreds of defenseless wolves will be shot, with many surviving wolf pups left to starve to death. Unless we stop it.

We’ve won the fight for wolves in court before, and we can do it again. Last year,Defenders of Wildlife and our allies convinced a federal judge to stop wolf killing in Wyoming and secured a reprieve for wolves in the Northern Rockies. Now we need your help to win again for our wolves.

Idaho’s wolf hunting season is scheduled to begin in just 14 days. Please make a tax-deductible donation right now to help fund our legal fight and national mobilization campaign to save wolves in Idaho and Greater Yellowstone.

With the lives of so many wolves hanging in the balance, Defenders of Wildlife needs your support to prevent the worst wolf massacre in decades. I hope we can count on your support.

For the Wild Ones,

Rodger Schlickeisen
President
Defenders of Wildlife

P.S. These wolves don’t have much time -- the Idaho wolf hunting season begins in just 14 days. Please make a secure donation online today to support our legal fight and other efforts to save wildlife or call 1-800-385-9712 to contribute over the phone

I'll have to look into those websites. :)
Unfortunatly, there are no Wolf Sanctuary's where I live. If there was I would probably have tried to volunteer already. I try to learn as much about wolves as I can, so I can help wolves when I become old enough.

I am defantly going to look at one of those web sites,
i like the H.O.W.L. thing that you made up,
thank you so very much for the advise, i do just that at my school, telling them how we can save the wolf population to keep them safe from harm,
and i found a program YellowStone and it tells you all about the wildlife and every thing you need to know if you want to save the wolves forever!
Good luck,
Lyenza

When I grow older, I'm going to be a Naturalist to help animals and learn more about them. I never changed my mind since I was 10 and I'll keep it that way!

Oh for teens in new england there is a wolf center in NY that you can volunteer at. Its called the New York Wolf Center. www.nywolf.org
Oh and for the kids who are not old enough to volunteer at a shelter or something, I make toys sometimes for the dogs at my local animal rescue center, get some friends and its a BLAST!!
