Which Caterpillar Is This? D:

Okay, so, I found a caterpillar in my backyard. I want to keep it, but I don't know what kind it is, so I can't tell if it will grow huge and fuzzy. :l Could someone help me? It is mostly black with a small white band going around its middle. It has tiny little spikes on its body that seem to be tipped in orange, but I can't be sure. Here's a pic~

Sorry about the bad quality of the pic... D: But anyway, does anybody know what type of caterpillar this may be? (I found him on the leafy tops of my carrots.)

What country are you from? I have a few species in mind but they live in completely different parts of the world.

Sounds like you have a very young Black Swallowtail, they are commonly found on carrots and similar vegetables. It probably just hatched. ^^
