Bizzare and Frightening Spiders

Post by Black Velvet » Tue Jan 17, 2012 9:33 pm

It seems that most people have a fear of spiders. I myself am afriad of some spiders. If it's a tiny little spider, I won't fuss over it. But if it's something I've never scene or is something that looks really dangerous, you will hear me squeal. :P

One of the most interesting and frightening spiders I have ever heard of is the camel spiders of the Middle East. There are some sub-species of camel spider living in the southwestern United States and Mexico. In Mexico, they are known as "deer killers". I have heard that camel spiders will attack people if provoked, but I'm not sure if that's true. There are many myths about the camel spider, such as... that they eat on camels, or on sleeping people.
Another spider I find scary is the baboon spider. They say they are one of the most dangerous spiders in South Africa. There are different sub-species of baboon spider, too. I hear that they can be kept as pets. :? I saw a picture of a baboon spider in a biology textbook once. It was posing with it's front legs in the air and its fangs hanging out. If I saw something like that, I would probably run away... I wouldn't bother trying to squash it.

What do you think is the most bizzare or frightening spider that you know of? Which do you think is the most fascinating?

These ones are the weirdest:

-the scorpion tailed spider. It looks like a banana! http://www.findaspider.org.au/find/spiders/101.htm
-the whip spider. It kinda looks like a snake with legs http://www.findaspider.org.au/find/spiders/338.htm

In my opinion, the scariest spider I know is the Tarantula because it is the only one I know. Since I heard Daddy Longlegs aren't actual spiders. Even so, spiders aren't good company to me.[/color

Ick. I can't stand spiders, let alone be around them. They frighten me as well, and I'll admit, I'm prone to screaming myself. :P It doesn't matter the type, though of course I'm more wary of the posinous kinds.
If it's the most bizzare/scary spider you're looking for, however -
That, my friend, is a wolf spider, a critter I find truly disgusting.

Here are some more bizarre spiders I found:

This one could be considered frightening to many people http://www.findaspider.org.au/find/spiders/528.htm just look at those freaky legs! :O

This one looks a lot more like a beetle than a spider http://www.findaspider.org.au/find/spiders/630.htm More cute than frightening though

This one is a sparkle spider! It's like a sparkle dog, but better! http://www.findaspider.org.au/find/spiders/649.htm

This one looks like slenderman http://www.findaspider.org.au/find/spiders/501.htm

Another sparkle spider http://www.findaspider.org.au/find/spiders/295.htm

This one kinda looks like a furry worm with legs http://www.findaspider.org.au/find/spiders/585.htm And just look at that face! WARNING THIS PIC IS A CLOSEUP http://www.findaspider.org.au/find/spid ... 585E10.jpg

This one looks like it has googly eyes http://www.findaspider.org.au/find/spiders/606.htm

This one looks like it could make for an interesting cup holder http://www.findaspider.org.au/find/spiders/372.htm

This one kinda looks like the whip spider from my previous post but with long fangs. http://www.findaspider.org.au/find/spiders/654.htm

This one is an ultra-fluffy jumping spider with an unusual body shape http://www.findaspider.org.au/find/spiders/290.htm
