Russia's Grizzly Coast at the Minnesota Zoo
Not to brag too much, but we are opening a new exhibit in less than a month here at the Minnesota Zoo called Russia's Grizzly Coast. It will feature Grizzly bears, Amur leopards, Wild boars, and Sea otters. June 7 is opening day. It will be a zoo here! (haha, you are suppose to laugh!)
They just posted the TV commercials they will be running for it and the otter commercial is the tops...in my opinion. Here is the link to the weblog http://www.mnzoo.com/guests/RGC/rgc_weblog.asp
To see the otter commercial you will need to select the link under the bear commercial.

Re: Russia's Grizzly Coast at the Minnesota Zoo
I had a chance to see an employee preview of Russia's Grizzly Coast last night. It was amazing! I had seen the exhibit without animals earlier. The sea otters were playing with ice chunks. One of them would pull it deep underwater and then let it go and chase it back to the surface. Then there were the brown bears---unbelievable! There is a pool of water directly in front of the viewing area and they stocked it with some fish. The bears were all in the pool slashing around and trying to get the fish. Then we saw them climbing trees and chasing each other. They were stealing the show. Next were the wild boars. The Zoo started with a male and a female and they had eight piglets this spring. So there are 10 on exhibit. They were a little tentative at first, but warmed up. The piglets are adorable. The last new animal in the exhibit is the Amur Leopard, the rarest big cat with around 30 left in the wild. They are secretive by nature and nocturnal, but we could see one on exhibit and she was a stunner. They are beautiful animals. Well, that is just a glimpse of what I saw last night. There are also steam vents, bubbling mud pots, and a geyser.

Please tell me you have more than one leopard on display, after all with only 30 in the wild breeding them has to be top priority.
I own the night!
