A Group of ____ is Called a ____

Post by Seewah » Sat Nov 06, 2010 7:17 pm

Is this in the right place? I think it is... If it's not, sorry about that. Anyway

One fun thing to do is to look up what a group of animals is called. All you do is fill in the blanks above! Some examples of this:

A group of vultures is called a committee or venue
A group of crows is called a murder
A group of ravens is called an unkindness (lol)
A group of owls is called a parliament
A group of jaguars is called a jamboree
A group of foxes is called a skulk or leash
A group of cheetahs is called a coalition

So just look up things like this and post some funny, cool, unusual, or interesting terms for animal groups, and remember to use the terms in a real conversation! Remember to say your favorite term! I hope this becomes a fun and educational game!

I think my favorite out of those is a group of cobras is a quiver. That's pretty funny. But my favorite of all so far is a group of ravens is called an unkindness.

Hm....there's also a stand of flamingos.
A smack of jellyfish.
A cloud of grasshoppers.
And a bloat of hippos. xD

Many animals though don't have just one group name, from what I've seen.

Interesting thread, Seewah! Its cool to know about more of these group names, I've never actually heard of some that have been mentioned, so its good to know some more. Here are a few I know of:

Yes, it's fun to find these terms. Don't you love an unkindness of ravens and a bloat of hippos? I sometimes find some terms hard to believe they're so funny.

lol, an unkindness of ravens and a bloat of hippos??! This is very amusing.

A group of rats is a colony.
A group of eggs (unhatched eggs) is called a clutch. (IDK if this counts)

I really don't know any more that haven't been mentioned. >.>

Well, I'm off to pick a bouquet of pheasants , charge my barracuda batteries, confuse the guinea fowl, put leashes on all the coyotes, and jamboree with the jaguars. XD
