Has anyone ever seen or heard of a Kiwi Bird?

Re: General Owl Discussion
Kiwi birds are pretty rad! They aren't technically owls though, heh^^'
I see this hasn't been posted on in some time... I'd love to get a little discussion going. So has anyone seen a wild owl as of late?

Re: General Owl Discussion
Hi guys! I like owls a lot, along with wolves, and I'm here to drop off a few facts about these nocturnal birds.
No, owls CANNOT turn their head all the way around, they would have to be something like the Exorcist to be able to. An owl turning its head 360 degrees is a fake but widely believed myth.
An owl's eyes are so large because they need big pupils to be able to catch more light in the dim night.
Owls have a sharp sense of hearing to be able to detect their prey from high up.
Owls' feather wings are so light, they hardly make a sound, which is helpful when they fly so that their prey won't hear them.
I guess that's it for now, I will try to look up some more information and post it here.

Re: General Owl Discussion
I recently saw a video clip of an owl interacting with a dog. Not sure if its viral or if a friend posted it, but it was pretty cool. The owl kept playing with the dog's fur and ears and occasionally proded it with its claws.

Re: General Owl Discussion
The golf course I golf at back in California has several protected areas throughout. Nesting areas for burrowing owls, I've seen them a couple times and they are absolutely adorable.
Re: General Owl Discussion
I don't think I've ever seen an owl in real life.

I love burrowing owls! Their expressions and stuff are the best. I've never seen owls in our area, but I have heard barred owls several times and they are really neat.

I saw one nestled in a rotting tree, with his sleeping face facing into the rising sun. I was on a ski chairlift at the time, so I was almost at eye level with him. Last time I went to that same resort though, the tree had been removed. No more owl!

Re: General Owl Discussion
The Great Horned Owl that used to visit the trees in my backyard seems to be gone :c Haven't heard her (and she was loud) in a couple years. I actually don't think I've seen an owl in person either, just heard them.

When I visit my family in Michigan they have owls that nest on the exposed logs of their cabin. I don't know what kind though, never got a really close look.

Re: General Owl Discussion
Owls are basically flying cats so that's why they're my favorite bird.

Life is a game.
The game is never won, though you can achieve a high-score.
When you achieve that high-score, you get rewarded.
And the reward is death.

There's a lot of owls near my house. They're pretty cool to watch from a distance and take pictures of them.

Do you know what kind of owls they are? That's pretty sweet though, and I would love to see pics if you have them <3EternalLaughter wrote:There's a lot of owls near my house. They're pretty cool to watch from a distance and take pictures of them.
Back home my dad was telling me how they've been seeing Great Horned Owls around, as well as hearing them.
