Quivira's Phantastic Photography

Post by Quivira » Tue Jan 26, 2016 11:42 pm

LUL U LIKE MY TITLE

Decided to make a photography topic of my own finally after meaning to for a long time. Photos were taken with my Samsung Galaxy s5 so they aren't as good as they could be, but I think they're fairly decent. Been getting more into photography since I made an Instagram recently a few months ago (for my bird lol he is more popular than me), so I've been thinking about getting a legit camera.

Well, I don't really have much to say. Here's the first five pics and I'll link to weekly posts of more in this first post here.

These first five were taken on a trip to Costa Rica I took last June. I like portrait mode so forgive me lol.

Image
^ When we took a tour of a really dense part of the rainforest while it was drizzling. It was a super peaceful and neat experience. Nightingales were singing everywhere and it was just really nice.

Image
^ Up close of the Heliconia plant, which is also known as the lobster-claw or false bird-of-paradise. Those are the leaves of it and they have some stunning flora there!

Image
^ A waterfall we saw. We saw a bigger, much louder one, but I'll post pics of that one next week or so. Now my phone hates ANYTHING that is in motion and will blur it to the best of its abilities, so I was surprised that it made this one at least somewhat clear. There also has to be a pretty intense lighting from the Sun, which was not present here either, so again, I'm surprised it took a decent picture here. I'm also triple surprised because it was in a waterproof case, which usually hinders the quality a lot.

Image
^ CROCODILE. We saw him and many others on a tour down a Costa Rican river, along with a ton of other wildlife. It was pretty neat!

Image
^ My only landscape mode lol. This was taken on a sky tram into the canapy of the jungle. It was so stunning to see how tall the rainforest got at the top. I was in awe at just how big and intimidating it looked. Imagine being in the middle of that, lost!

The last 3 pics are my favourites. The waterfall is gorgeous and so is the canopy, while I also have a soft spot for crocs...

I expected elephants. I am disappointed.

Only in your title though! These are all really nice, I like the variety of subjects you've gone for. I think the crocodile one is my favourite, but the first one of the rainforest is really cool too!

Now go take some pictures of elephants to justify that title.

Aw man, I almost went to Costa Rica this winter. I love your pics though- I think the waterfall is my favorite, with all of the lush greenery surrounding it. I like the angle too. The landscape photo you have as well is very nice. Gotta love how scenic Central America can be.
When I was in Peru last winter I saw some of those same lobster-claw plants. I thought they were so rad looking.

Thank you for sharing- I'm eager for more photos of your adventures! =D

Hahahah, I like your title! Those pics are amazing! I didn't have time to test my dear new smartphone, but after that waterfall pic my hopes were all high! The rain forest was one of my favorites too! I just missed the jaguar XD Now serious, really really beautiful pics! I'll wait for more!

Boy do I have news for you! I need to post more so here is one for you.

It's a Barrel Cactus from the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix Arizona. Took it with my Olympus camera, which I lost on a kayaking trip a few years ago... Still peeved about that. Anyways, even though the Costa Rican environment was beautiful, the desert environment has always been my favorite, especially the Sonoran Desert. Cacti is cool.

Is it weird if I really want to grab that cactus? For some reason I really want to touch it haha.

That's a really cool shot though- close-ups can really change your perception of what your photographing. I really like this one.
And I still want to touch it.

Looking forward to more! =D
