I love animals and nature, and I love taking photos. Throughout this thread you will see various photos that I've taken, either in my backyard, hiking, on a hunting trip, at a zoo, or possibly somewhere else. I'll try to give a bit of information with each photo I post, such as where I took it, and things like that. If you have any questions about any of my photos, feel free to ask! I'll also try to get these posted evenly spread out, instead of dumping a bunch all in one go.

These photos are not for you to use in any way, shape, or form. All rights are reserved to myself.

Here's the first photo to get this started:

Nicobar pigeon, photo taken at Taronga Zoo. Taking photos of birds in cages is difficult. I love these birds though.

And here are the links to other photos as they are posted in this thread:

Lovely photo here, Sambhur! The colours are all clear and you managed to not get the cage in there! It's in great focus and the position shows proportion well! Can't wait to see more of you work!

Thanks! And camera! Unless I somehow take a super amazing picture on my phone one day, I don't think I'll ever have a phone photo that's worth posting. Like, sure, my iPhone 6 can take some pretty decent photos in the best lighting possible, but taking photos with my DSLR camera is generally sooo much better. Also I can actually zoom properly with my camera, and take nice photos in situations that don't have perfect natural midday lighting. But yeah, phone digital zooms aren't nice, and zooming is usually required when taking photos of animals.

ACTUALLY, let me just show you how much I appreciate being able to zoom in nicely. Here's a photo I took on a hunting trip without zooming in at all:

Just a picture of a hill in the distance. Nothing special, right?
But then I zoomed all the way in on this area I've circled:

and I took another photo...

And I saw this! This is the photo at full-size, no enlarging, I just cropped it so that it'd fit here at full-size. But yeah, eastern grey kangaroos! Look at em. So cute.

Thanks Lupa! I pretty much had my camera lens right up against the metal mesh, hah.

I defiantly agree with horrible phone zoom and focus.
Even if you were right up you still managed to get it XD

Good eye with the kangaroo! I have no talent with a phone, much less a camera, so kudos.

Thanks Koa!
Time for another photo.

Zebra, taken at Taronga Zoo. I like how the stripes appear mostly black from a distance, but then look more brown once you get closer.

It's been a while, I got a bit busy with school.

Royal Spoonbill, taken at Taronga Zoo. I have a soft spot for spoonbills and I'm not entirely sure why.

Whoa, these are all pretty impressive, especially that zebra photo! :o

That spoonbill is adorable! I'd never heard of them before, too, so nice way of getting introduced to them. The detail on the beak is interesting.

Thank you so much!

Here's a close-up shot of the same bird:

I like how on the second one (zoomed in) the camera is focused more on the eye area and the beak and background are blurred. It gives it more of a realism sense and shows the beauty of the head instead of letting you eyes focus on the beak, seen as that's the part that stands out most. Lovely images, though!

Thanks! Time for another photo.

Zebra, taken at Taronga Zoo. Shame about the trough in the background, though. :/ I like this pic because of the stripes, mostly.

Lovely image there, again! Yes, shame about the background... It's still loveely thought, the Stripe pattern is beautiful.

Gorgeous photographs, Sambhur! You seem to have quite the talent in the photography field.

I love the first Zebra photograph due to the visible brown tinges on the fur and I must agree with Koa, good observation with the Kangaroos! I look forward in potentially seeing more photographs from you on here. :3
