Question: Do wolves' dewclaws serve any practical purpose?

They can be used to grip certain things (for example; if one were to ever gnaw on a bone, they could grip those. Other than that, I believe dewclaws are just the thumb for wolves/dogs.

To look at this more closely, you can look at a dog. This video does explain the purpose of a dew claw. It is also used for digging, according to a few websites.
