What's the average lifespan of a healthy wolf? I know it's not very long but i didn't know how long exactly.

According to the International Wolf Center:

Gray wolves in the wild have an average life span of 6 to 8 years, but have been known to live up to 13 years in the wild and 16 years in captivity. Red wolves in the wild have an average life span of 8 to 9 years, but have been known to live up to 12 years in the wild and 16 years in captivity.

Wow, that's not very long at all. They live long in captivity than in the wild.

depends where you live, in algonquin the life span of a wolf is somewhere a little after a year because of heavy hunting and disturbance. most wolves have a life span of some three years because of injury, disease, starvation, cars etc. one wolf in the artic was thirteen years old and still sired a litter of puppies.

6-8 years may seem long, but if you really think about it, it's very short.
