well. the history is good, but Whitefang is much better  (the main character in "call of the wild" is a mix between a "sankt bernhard" and a "Scotch sheepdog". and hes name is "Buck")

Jack London wrote The Call of the Wild and intended White Fang to be a sequel, although in the end they weren`t. Both books are famous for being classics around the globe and have been turned into countless movies, cartoons, animes and television shows. White Fang was banned for a while because it supposily supported the notion of communism, but now these books can be found in every library!

I loved the detail that London writes, its so beautiful it makes you feel like your standing in the arctic and the development of White Fang and Buck explores all espects of animal behaviour and pyschology. London was so obbsessed with wolves that he asked his wife to call him "wolf" and inscribed on a pocket watch "from the wolf". Theres an animated movie of White Fang being made by Alphanim productions, but the book is always the best!

I could've sworn thought that Buck was part german shepherd and saint bernard.
Also, Runt is VERY good. Super short chapter book though.

I liked Whitefang better. I appreciated what London was going for, but I don't think he knew that much about wolves. Maybe more than others of his time, but he seemed to depict them rather savagely. (I could be off a bit-- Haven't read the book in a couple of years.) Oh, and this is completely random, but MidnightBlackwolf, I absolutely LOVE your avatar!!! :) Did you make it? It's a pirate wolf, right? I love it!! Is there some Pirates of the Caribbean influence there? :D

Hello everyone, I saw the name Jack London and couldn't help posting! I've read Call of the Wild too... The humans treated the dogs cruelly, but it had a (somewhat) happy ending. For the dogs/wolves. Not the humans. Poor them.

To look into a wolf's eyes is to gaze into your soul...

But why you'd stare at a wolf is beyond anyone's guess.
