Twilight Spirits

Post by Griffinsong » Sun Oct 04, 2009 5:54 pm

Didn't see a topic like this, so I decided to make one.

What are your thoughts on the wolf comic Twilight Spirits? Even if you dislike the sparkly wolves.

Scanned what they had on the website.

I have a couple of beefs with it:

- Unrealistic wolves. I know it's artistic license, but it's just too much.
- Spelling mistakes.
- webpage is not even close to being finished.
- anatomy errors

They were one of the comics I destroyed in my review:
Twilight Spirits: I’ll be honest, I’m not even able to read this comic. My eyes hurt when I try. The colors. I could bark about all of the sparkley wolves out there, but you know what? If you want to have a blue wolf, go ahead. Just please don’t open up MS Paint and use the default blue. PLEASE add some grey to dull down the brightness. At least try to make it look natural. I never get why the wolves have fancy colors, but just them. Not the deer or the birds or the bears. And it’s rarely (if ever explained) But besides that. There’s something about the style that’s just so…generic. Speaking of generic, there are three evil wolves, each of a solid dark grey with sunken faces and evil looking faces. Yes. I’m serious. Just open up the book of clichés. I believe this artist speaks English for their first language, so there’s really no excuse for the horrid dialog and numerous spelling and grammar errors. This comic is more or less pretty generic.

One of the comics I completely disliked =D Really had no redeeming qualities.

Basically, I agree with Songdog by some parts - the comic is too... much. All the colors and anatomical weirdness... but it could be worse, I reckon. I'm not used to viewing comic books from that calibery.

Not to go against the Mods. but i think it was Cool! I mean sure some of the stuff was unrealistic but that's good in comics and graphic novels.I thought it rocked!

Everyone has their own style of drawing and how they want to show their creativity. I can't say that "Twilight Spirits" is a comic I would read as there are many spelling errors and a lack of professionally, however, I will give credit for someone so young to be able to dedicate her time to her artwork. Personally, I do prefer more, realistic wolf comics, such as "Off-White". "Off White" Is an example of a comic that was done very well.

Hi.
I checked the link and might add that you should put on sunglasses first.
That said, it is drawn really well. Other than that, there really isn't enough of the story up for me to say one way or the other. blueshinewolf is a good artist, but... is it just me or do most wolf comics look like they're a cross between Balto and The (Anime) Jungle Book?
Granted, I've only read three:
The Blackblood Alliance, this one, and Of Paws and Wings, a link I found on the site.

But is there a "animated wolf" reference book I missed?

If everyone was the same, this'd be a dull world.
"The Windwater Pack" thread is dead. Any info on further installments/developments will be on my website, which has a link on my profile.

That said, gonna try and be more active, if I can figure out how to get back in the swing of things.

I would ask people to reserve judgment right now: http://blueshinewolf.deviantart.com/journal/28530708/

Apparently she's aiming to redo it.

Reserve judgment? Just because she's redoing it doesn't mean we can't form opinions on what's already been done. Maybe the redone pages will be nice and pretty and the characters won't be generic and the plot won't be lulzy cliche.

But what has been made very much is.

I mostly meant reserve judgment on whether or not it will continue to be cliched. Probably should have clarified. ^^"

Could someone please point out where the anatomy errors are? My style is a lot like that artist's, just wondering where I can improve.

The words "tragic past", "chosen one" and "evil" in Moon's character page don't make me too optimistic about its originality or intelligent content. :/
