Off-White

Post by Gingadog » Fri Jan 02, 2009 7:39 pm

While I was just randomly going around Google I found this amazing wolf comic called Off-White! It's about a world with white and black guardians assigned to two species that are conected. In this case, it's humans and wolves. These guardians keep the species alive and under control. But in the wolf and human family, the light guardian has gone missing. A small pack is now looking for this guardian to bring back the peace they once had.

I'm currently reading it, its good
I have a job for whoever has some free time on their hands, and can (and enjoys) drawing semi-realistic people. It would most likely be a big and long job, but I hope whoever tries it enjoys it. For more info, please send me a PM.

I've read it; there's a bit of Norse Mythology involved, so it keeps me interested. Several of the characters are named after Elder Futhark runes (Gebo, Raigho/Raidho, so forth and such)

Ragnorak is the day that the world ends, according to Norse Mythology. Fenris/Fenrir, the great wolf monster who was tied to a rock at the center of the earth, is supposed to break free when the Niddhog dragon chews through the World Tree. But to go any further would stumble on those WQ religious boundaries.

I think the style the artist draws in is rather unique; very realistic (most of the time)

You're right Songdog! I have a book of Norse Mythology, I should have known what was involved. The art is amazing how the can just draw those little details of fur, eyes, and bones.

Akreon has a very cool way of taking a realistic style, like hers, and adding the more cartoony expressions. She makes it seem almost natural, its really awesome. The story is really good so far as well

I love mythology. I didn't actually know that there was something special about the names, though.

I love akreon ^^ She is a really good artist and I have read what she does have twice over. I can't wait till she puts out more ^^ She isn't like most other wolf comic creators.

Here, you can read more on Runes:
http://www.sunnyway.com/runes/meanings.html

I took up rune casting a number of years ago, I now have the set my step dad used to own. But that's all off topic.

Akreon probably has a lot of good photography references. What also surprised me is she can also draw people very nicely as well.

those runes pages are cool! I wonder if that's what inspired her to make this story...

According to her DA page, Akreon is from Poland, which is considered one of the Nordic/Proto-Germanic regions. She was probably inspired not just by the runes, but by Norse mythology in general. There are little allusions in the story here and there.
