Do you find the life of a wolf interesting?
There is a great depth of information about wolves on this forum that I'm sure it has helped many users gain an insight into how wolves, wild and captive, live. However, with this insight into the life of wolves, I am curious - with what you currently know, do you regard the life of a wolf as interesting?
If you do find it interesting, do you find it interesting as a whole or do you only find certain aspects of wolf life to be intriguing (e.g. pack hierarchy, hunting strategies, certain behaviours (e.g. submissive behaviours), their relationship with other animals in the ecosystem, etc.)? If you don't, why is this the case (e.g. do you feel the way in which wolves live is not interesting when compared to other animals)?
As an additional question, what do you find more interesting; the life of a wild wolf or the lifeof a captive wolf?
Regardless, I'd love to see people's thoughts and opinions! :]

Oh yes I do, very much. One would think that an animal's life would be quite simple and boring, but a wolf's isn't at all. WolfQuest (as in, the game) particularly has helped me see that.

I think its very interesting how they behave in general. All animals have a type of communication. For example, Go away, I'm a threat! or, Don't hurt me, I'm no threat! Wolves are just great animals! In my opinion they are really related to Velociraptors which are smart animals in the dinosaur age. The wolves have feeling for shore and I just wouldn't hurt any animal!

I love their behaviour, more specifically their pack dynamics and hunting tactics.

I think they're absolutely fascinating, especially pack dynamics and such. Wolves also display quite a bit of intelligence from what I've read about them, which is really cool. The two wolves at my local zoo are fascinating to watch.

- I think that they are very interesting; how complex and organized they are is very cool! It seems to me everyone in the pack knows where their place is. When it comes to hunting, the way they work as a team is also very interesting. The coordination is just so cool!

Wolf life is probably one of the most interesting things actually, I like to occasionally watch documentaries or read books about it....

Agreed! I've seen documentaries about some pretty remarkable wolves. It's really cool to see them up close and personal.CakeWolfy wrote:Wolf life is probably one of the most interesting things actually, I like to occasionally watch documentaries or read books about it....

I always found their complicated communication system to be the most interesting, especially the different types of howls.

Re: Do you find the life of a wolf interesting?
I do very much find the life of a wolf to be interesting, even if it is, in a way, quite simplistic. Their communication system and family bonds are so complex, yet the concept they live by--eating, living, passing on genes to the next generation--is quite simple.

Re: Do you find the life of a wolf interesting?
oh yes! i've always been a sucker for documentaries, so ones centered on wolves are definitely interesting to me. i love how each one is similar in its own ways, then different in others-- especially since the personalities of the wolves that are being followed show through in each one, making each documentary unique to each wolf that's being watched. i also love the social mechanics; they seem so brutal in their approach sometimes, but it's necessary to establish clear and fine lines of dominance and submission.

Of course! It's not just ,,look" what is interesting about wolves. They are very intelligent and proud. Wolf life is something still unknown to us. We still can't tell exactly everything about wolf life. We know only few facts from all these years about wolves in wild. It's the mystery what makes it interesting. I love it. I've learned tons of information about wolves just from those 25% we know about them in wild. I think wolf life is hard, mystery and awesome.

Re: Do you find the life of a wolf interesting?
It seems interesting at a first look, but remember, these wolves usually have the same routine every day. Most of the time is spent sleeping, hunting, and occasionally clashing with other packs. Raising pups sounds like fun too, but it is a very serious responsibility in the wild with all the lurking dangers.
Their life seems more interesting mostly because documentaries, movies, and video games tend to spice up the gameplay and real truth a bit. Even some of the developers at WQ admit that a wolf's life was not as nearly as interesting as WolfQuest makes it seem, it has that game-like element in it to keep players glued to the screen ya' know?
