Like I said, fast-working gun or a tranquilizer that has a huge chance of not working at all?
I've seen tranquilizers fail. A research group was out checking tagged bears once, the tranquilizer failed and the bear charged at them before the ground group could get another shot in. The only thing that saved them were the backup in the helicopter.
But even if you have never shot a real hunting rifle, you should carry at least a bb gun [or whatever its spelled like] or be with someone who has shot one of the two is with you if you're in wolf country or in an area with an escaped zoo animal.
Yeh tranquilizers do fail, I'd hate to be the poor person stuck in that situation. ):

I have already said earlier that I can not properly answer that question, the debate can probably be found on one of the earlier pages.
and I dont find a dog worth any more than the wolf. if they need to fight it out, then so be it. I dont see any reason for the wolf to die. the same with any kind of livetock or pet.
with a human, its hard to tell becaue its either shoot the wolf or let it be shot by the police/animal control/etc. unless it somehow manages to escape.

It must be rabid.
I would not kill the wolf, but rather disable it temporarily, tranquilize, or scare it off...anything but kill, I wouldn't ever sleep if I killed a wolf I'd have horrible dreams

I would probably not hurt or kill a wolf for no reason but if my friends, family and cat's life was at stake then probably.

Yes I would if I were to save my loved ones. But in another occasion no.
I ran out of snarky remarks, unfortunately.

I'm not going to go out of my way to kill any animal, but if another person or a domesticated animal I felt I could help were at risk, I wouldn't hesitate.

i feel like it would depend on the situation. if someone i didn't like was getting attacked by a wolf, then i'd let it happen. let nature take its course, you know? but if it were someone that i knew, or perhaps someone's pet or some other helpless little thing that was in the wrong place at the wrong time, then i'd likely kill it to spare whoever/whatever it was attacking. i'd kill it especially if it were attacking my family member/boyfriend/close friend/dog, since i'm pretty ruthless when it comes to people that i love

This describes everything I'd do. Good

This was an incredibly interesting thread to read! Songdog basically stated everything I would have, concerning the debate.
My stance on killing a wolf is I would absolutely kill it dead if it were running for me. It is my duty as a living organism to self preserve. Wolves do not get a free pass from me for being pretty.
If I saw another human being attacked by a wolf, I would do everything in my power to help the human. Wolves are strong and have better natural tools for killing. We have short, tiny fingernails and our teeth/jaw structure aren't exactly made for ripping out something's throat, right? Any normal person without extra tools would get overwhelmed by a wolf, I believe. Just like how adults can still be mauled by regular dogs. So I guess I'd try to level the playing field. Plus, I find it horrible to turn a blind eye to someone being brutally mauled.
Wolves take care of their own(?). I'll take care of my own if at all possible.

Although I wouldn't want to kill a wolf, if I was going to die then I would kill it, otherwise definitely not.

Most people would rather watch another person be torn open by a wild animal than kill the animal. Lovely.

Yes, I would kill any wild animal that was about to maul me or another human if I could. Wolves aren't special or the exception.
