Some changes to the way private messaging works will be put into effect shortly after this thread has been published.
What has changed?
It is no longer possible for accounts within the Newly Registered Users usergroup to compose private messages. This is the only change. It does not affect:- Receiving inbound private messages.
- Reading received private messages.
- Reporting received private messages.
- Managing your inbox – delete PMs, move PMs between folders, create/rename/delete folders, manage inbox rules, etc.
Why was this change made?
There are a few reasons to restrict private messaging access and as always, our intentions are to benefit the community. This furthers our efforts to counter against spambots, preventing them from sending unsolicited mail to users by effectively removing the ability from them altogether. Needless to say, this was a tough decision to make due to the impact it has on genuine human users.Who is affected?
All members within the NRU usergroup are affected by today’s change. If you registered before September 12th 2012, your account is exempt from these new permissions. If you registered on or after this date and you have made no posts, you will be unable to send private messages.Gaining or Restoring Access
Fortunately, the ability to compose private messages is protected by a modest system; the NRU setting is temporary. Simply post a reply in this topic and you are guaranteed to trigger the automatic flag that will permanently remove your account from the newly registered setting when your post has been approved by a moderator, then you can go about your business as usual without future posts being queued for moderators to review. Please make sure your post complies with the Forum Guidelines, otherwise it will be rejected.TL,DR addendum: if you can't compose new or reply to received private messages, post here.
If you have any questions, as always, you are welcome to post them! Thank you for your time. Have a pleasant morning/afternoon/evening~
