animal keychains?!

Post by american hunter1 » Mon Jun 08, 2015 2:21 am

I seen something in a magazine where a company was selling ANIMALS IN KEYCHAINS. Animals like turtles, fish, and frogs in tiny 2-3 inch keychains. With being shaking around all day in a pocket and having no space, I don't think the animal will survive a week. Please don't buy animals in things besides a tank.

I have extreme doubt that these keychains contain actual animals. First of all, how would you feed them. Second, how would the product be approved by the proper regulatory bod(y)(ies). Third and last, I don't think that there would be enough of a market in it for any company to even consider it.

I am stunned to find that this is actually a thing.

...really, China? What the heck. That's just an awful and despicable thing to do to any living creature on this planet. The amount of stress must be awful for the poor things, and I would never have believed it possible or even legal... cruel, sick and appalling is all I'll say after reading that article. :/
Nothing interesting happens.

I am flabbergasted...

This is sickening. And the fact that they are advertised as snacks is even more sickening.

But that does explain how it is allowed.

Omj that's so horrible... I had never thought there would be people who actually do this, and the countries that seem to accept it.
Inhumane, very much.

This is so inhumane.

I mean, why don't they out themselves in the animals shoes?
They are trapped in a tiny plastic sort of thing and when you die they will eat you. Doesn't sound nice, bet they wouldn't like it.

At first I was thinking, there is no way.. But nope. It's actually a thing. Poor animals, that's awful. I'm certainly not against eating animals, but they need to suffer as little as possible. This is simply inhumane and cruel, as well as unnecessary.

Ugh, yeah. I'm afraid I'd heard of this before. It doesn't entirely surprise me that this is happening in China considering their laws regarding animal rights/protection to begin with, but it's still sickening.

It's beyond me that some people would even spend money on these things and as a result support the companies that do this. You're essentially paying for holding on to a live creature until it suffocates. :/

This sort of thing is just a real big shame. I'm sure if you don't think about the small details the idea seems cute, which is why people partake in purchasing the item. Many can't be bothered to consider whether or not the process is actually humane or not at that time, especially in regions where animal rights are still relativity outdated. As for who would come up with something as outrageous as this-the easiest answer is to say someone who wants to make a profit. If they don't come up with the "next best thing" someone else will and so limits are pushed and corners are cut, so as a result you get cruel things like this showing up on the markets.

This is incredible. I can't believe it.
And they eat them once they're dead?
Sickening.
I'm speechless.

I feel awful having read that. They get shaken up, tossed around, forced into a tiny baggy, having to live out the rest of it's horrid life in it's own filth, and then suffocating. The eating part is just despicable, they literally just tortured the tiny animal to death and then they eat it?! I really don't know how to react to something that awful. I can't believe it was even an idea that went anywhere. That's just so disgusting on so many levels, I feel disgusted that I share the air with people like that.

That's just sickening. Animals are creatures that have lives of their own and should not be tossed about like some fashion statement.
I really just don't know what to say to this.

I seriously don't know what to say.

this is actually really, really disgusting and i'm very ashamed that china doesn't really have any laws that prohibit this kind of inhumane activity :\
China currently has no animal-welfare laws.

In 2006, Zhou Ping of the National People's Congress introduced the first nationwide animal-protection law in China, but it didn't move forward.

In September 2009, the first comprehensive Animal protection law of the People's Republic of China was introduced, but it hasn't made any progress.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_we ... egislation

it's really important that these laws are passed and are actually making progress, especially with how china has a tendency to disregard animal health in favor of their own benefits (e.g. profit and entertainment). though they might feel that this is beneficial to their economy, it serves to further the negative stigma against their people.
