I've heard of this. A few months ago, I vowed never to go the an Animal Circus again. It's just so upsetting to see those sad, sad animals being harmed for not doing something that they weren't even meant to do. There is a book called Saving Lily that is about a circus eleplant. If you want to learn more, I suggest you read that book, I cried reading it at points... Also, the animals still don't like the tricks they do. I heard that "All animals fear fire. But this tiger fears his trainer more." It showed a picture of a tiger jumping through a hoop. I wish I could do more than stay away from the circus... Alas, I have no idea.

Thanks for sharing, Croix. I personally think this is an important topic to acknowledge. :D

I think circuses are cruel. What bothers me most is that the circus owners will breed a female elephant over and over again. Pregnancy for an elephant is something like 22 months. Imagine holding like 30 pounds for 22 months and then doing it again really soon after. The baby elephants aren't exactly cared for either. They are bound with chains and trained. This absolutely bothers me.

I feel like I wil never go to another circuse again unless the circuse has no exotic animals or animals that look sad or beaten up. I think that the person who owns the animals-abused circuses should be under arrest for treating animals like dirt and beating them to death.
Agreed.
I had actually never realized or even considered this possibility until now. It never ceases to amaze--in a bad way--me what people will do to innocent animals just to get what they want.

I've never been one for animals in circuses... Exploiting animals for entertainment and money is wrong in my eyes, and animal abuse makes it all the worse.

Thanks for the share, Croix.

Thanks for sharing this. <3
Used to love the circus when I was little, but well, I was too young to know it was bad for animals. But now I think about it....It's a torture for those poor animals.

Like BlackWarrior i have never been to a circus and probably never will, just because they don't come near my hometown very much and i have no interest. But i always have objected to the use of such animals in that situation. I think i will just go to our Zoo it is one of the best, well thanks for posting this Croix.

Some people will do anything for their own entertainment, even if they are abusing animals. Many books and movies express this fact, such as Water for Elephants and Sheep. I do not have any desire to go to a circus and have never been to one in the past. Abusing animals for whatever reason is WRONG.

Dang, I never really go to the circus, and based on what I read and what everyone posted, I'll keep this in mind.
Sleep is very important. Without it, we can't think straight. If you think you're normal without any sleep, be careful.

Good thing there ARE circuses without animals out there. I think that the best thing you can do is show support for these human-only circuses and avoid going to those with circus animals.

I've been to circus grounds before and though they did treat the animals well at those, I still can't imagine it being too pleasant for animals to be moved around so often in small trailers and the like. I'm glad to read plenty of you seem to care so much :)

A circus I have been indeed to before. The animals from afar seemed healthy and treated kindly, though its important for everyone to realize we don't know truly what happens behind closed doors at every circus, good or bad. The best thing you can do uf you are dead set on attending a circus is to do your homework and simply be cautious, but not to the point of paranoia.

The Humane Society keeps people from harming or even killing animals in movies (or ENTERTAINMENT). I like that they do that, or many animals would have been harmed onscreen for years now, but after reading this they probably should keep an eye on circuses with wild animals. Just sayin'. I've never had an interest in circuses anyway, even though I went to one ages ago, when I was like, three. I don't even remember which one it was.
