Note: this has no connection to the BP oil spill, it is it's own Oil rig and has nothing to do with it.
This is a mini-article me and my mom found, An Oil Rig exploded in the gulf of new Mexico. Good news is, there wasn't any oil being produced at the time - but it still gave me quite a shock.

Another oil rig has exploded in the Gulf of Mexico.
The U.S. Coast Guard reports that all 13 people on board the rig are safe -- though one was injured in the blast.
The rig, owned by Houston-based Mariner Energy, is located about 130 kiometres off the coast, and is west of the British Petroleum rig that spilled oil for several months and caused environmental devastation in the region.
The rig wasn't producing oil at the time of the blast.

That's quite unfortunate that is exploded, but luckily there was no oil there. If there was, the Gulf would have a ton of oil in it. It's good to know everyone made it out alright (though one person was injured).
Thanks for sharing Zethra!

It's strange to hear that two separate oil spills have now occurred in the Gulf of Mexico. It makes me uncertain of that ecosystem's future....

Oh,I remember this big disaster...
When i first heard about it i started stinking out and thinking about the poor animals in the water
and got worried if the oil will come all the way to Africa (Thats pretty bad).
But i heard that they stopped the oil spill but there's still oil in the water.

Yep, I remember this. :c It surprised me aswell when I heard the two incidents happened so close together. It was even more awful considering that I live somewhat near the gulf. :c
