These aren't even that cute. O.o Most of the fur looks ugly, besides for the tiger one. This is foolish. No point in harming your animal like that and wasting money.

I find this very idiotic, like lot's of people have said People would really choose there dogs appearance over they're health? People don't know half the risks dying a dog will have on their organs. I think it could find a way to harm the dogs, maybe like it may go to they're brains and they will start acting weird, then people will start wishing they never did it. Yes they look cute or "pretty" but would you really choose how your dog looks over its physical and mental health?

Thats so mean! I would HATE it if I were a dog and someone just went and died me purple or pink or whatever.

I just think it's pointless. It only looks okay on a few dogs, and even then they look better without it. All dogs look great without harmful dyes, so I just don't get the point.

These people are ridiculous! It's so cruel. But I guess some people don't care about the care and loyal part in having a pet. People like that use dogs and cats as accesories, which is so wrong.

I haven't confronted many people who have dyed their pet's fur. I've only once seen a pink poodle, which seems to be pretty common. Like basically everyone on this thread, I don't agree with it. Not just because it seems unethical, but just (in my opinion) it doesn't look very good. I like the normal colors of dogs, pink/blue doesn't look very good. Not to mention the health effects. xP

Agreeing with everyone here, the reason for dying dogs is pointless, cruel, and not natural.
First of all, why dye your dog if it already beautiful colors of brown, greys, blacks, and whites? Other than making your dog look rainbow, this is doing nothing in terms of good towards your dog.
secondly, your dogs health is at risk. I imagine the toxins and chemicals in these dyes are not great for your pets when it seeps into their skin, therefore into their body system.
I don't see the point... what more can I add?

Dogs are often considered more of fashion accessories than actual companions. People do this because they want their dogs look 'pretty' or 'unique.' When in reality it's exactly the other way around... But just take a look at what humans do to their hair. O.o It's certainly not necessary, especially for animals.

Same here, and I'm glad. I've only seen poodles with dyed fur as well. ^^

This is sad. Simply sad. They think their dogs look "pretty", but their dogs are thinking "why am i green now? This is making me sick." OK i don't know if they really get sick but i bet they do. It is sad. If i had a dog, i would like it brown, or white, or black, or whatever color it came in!

As pretty and cute as this looks, I hate it and would never do it to my pooch.
Don't the owners know that all those chemicals and whatnot can hurt their dog?

"I think he loves it," says Li. "Since he's been dyed, he gets lots of love and attention."
-.-

  • I find it abusive.. your rubbing things on your pet,
and who cares if they look 'pretty pretty' on a walk?
I mean, you should love them, not love them for what you changed them to.

My dad got a picture of a dyed poodle when we were at the mall today. We didn't see it, but he did - the poodle was a multitude of colors. Strangeeeee.

Apparently, when dyed with vegetable inks, it isn't really harmful to the dogs at all.

Still, dying your dog seems silly to me... As if you're owning a dog more as accessoiry (what a pain to spell) than as a companion. That, and I prefer their natural looks.

Saw these poodles on television that were all painted up for a grooming contest... It looked ridiculous... :P

I think you know...if it makes you happy, go ahead and waste your money dying your dog. Maybe for some people it's for fun than what I might spend the money on. A waste to some people isn't necessarily a waste to others. I definitely see it as a waste and wouldn't do it but you know what? If you want to do it, go ahead, it's your money, you do what you want with it.

I agree - it is indeed rediculous that dogs have their coats dyed - a dog's pelt should remain its natural hues throughout its lifetime, regardless of how many grey hairs appear as it ages.
My dog was born black and white, and that'll be the colour he stays until the end of his lifespan; not that he'll have many grey hairs to point out as an elder. ;) He'll always be a companion and friend in our family, and never an accessory.

Thanks for sharing this article Silverness, t'was an interesting read.
