Dyed Animals

Post by paperpaws » Thu Sep 02, 2010 6:59 am

Seeing this has pretty much turned into a thread for dying animals in general (No idea why I initially posted it in Take Action anyway, though I'm still not really sure where else this should go ;p) I thought I might as well change the title to reflect to those changes. Discuss dying animals in unnatural colours and the like here.

Original post (Dyed Dogs)
So, there is a dyed fish thread, but people in China (and probably other countries) actually dye dogs as well.

Your opinions on this? I find it ridiculous, to be honest. Sure, it looks pretty, but like the article states, you shouldn't do it if it might be harmful to your dog.

I agree, I have seen this before. A woman on TV having a pink and purple poodle, I know they look pretty and unique. But, I do find this a bit disturbing...

Again, I can understand them looking pretty, unique and even cool. However, not only could it be hazardous to the dog's health but it could also be hazardous to the human if they're not careful.

So, my opinion with is that I don't really approve of this act, it's dangerous and even possibly toxic.

Yes; the panda dog as shown in the article does look adorable, I admit, but I wouldn't do that to my dog or cat. I'd grow to love it as it is, rather than dying it with the risk of blood poisoning and a shorter life span. Each pet is unique already, so there is no need to dye it.

Perhaps it would be fun to Photoshop pictures of your pet, without dying them. :3

Dying any animal is wrong, in my opinion. Yes they may make them look cute (and in fact most of them are) but it is ridiculous and could be toxic or dangerous to the animal.
I've seen dog shows where they need to specifically dye their dog according to the chart of what they can look like in order to qualify. One dog show i've seen on TV was about dying their dogs to look like wild felines.
It can be dangerous to both the dog and humans around the animal if their not careful.
I would never dye my dog, she looks perfect the way she is. :3

Yeah, I believe I've seen that one too. There are also a few shows I've seen (pet rescue) that has taken in these animals, who have been intoxicated by said products.
However, I don't really think they know that it's toxic to the animal, I believe that on these shows some have said that it isn't toxic to animals, ect. Unless I am thinking about a different product for the "isn't toxic" part.

Aside from that, it's again a bit disturbing with this matter. Dying animals is just, disturbing...

Please be sure your comment does not turn the discussion into a "humans are bad save the animals" rant, thank you.

...I'm completely against this. Not only is it idiotic, but it can also be dangerous to the dog.

It's almost at the same level as carrying a dog around all the time, or putting clothes on it.

-_- My grandmother sent me a Email with pictures of these dressed up dogs; I find it, as SolitaryHowl said, idiotic.

Your going to choose your dogs appearance over its health? >_> Think people

Stupid, useless, ridiculous. And I think it's also unpleasant for the dogs.
