Its sad to hear that the lions, get posoned like that. They have always had an high spot on my fav animal list... I hope the product can be banned in Kenya, not only for the lions but the rest of the animals that eat it, Like other preadators and scavangers.

Whoa, don't turn this into a "humans are bad; save the animal" rant or anything, as there are better ways to state your opinion on the subject in a more polite and non-biased manner.

Do you know how poor this is of animals dying? its very sad, but then stupid for the people that caused the animals to die. In that case we have to STOP hunting.

That's real sad! I don't like it when people poison animals, they need to eat too. Imagine if you were some kind of predator and you see some defenseless animals out on the field and you haven't eaten in a week. What would YOU do?

Before you mentioned this, I have never even heard of lion poisoning but it is a very sad situation. Perhaps if we were all poor farmers in Kenya we would see it differently but in the end, nobody's going to win from this. Lion usually pick off the weak cattle that could pass on their bad genes. Once they start doing this it'll be very hard to take back. I read somewhere that just in a small town in Kenya, 50 lions were killed in about a year. I'd hate to imagine that all in Kenya

This is the first I heard of a lion being poisoned as well and I think its horrible. About what to do to stop it, I don't really have any idea. Either way it is terrible and I wish I could do something to keep lions from being poisoned.

Oh my, this is very bad. D; I have always loved lions, and it would be a shame to see them go extict. If there was any way I could, I'd go to Africa and try to stop it. Thanks for sharing, Alpha Female!

Reading through that article I got a strange puppy of frustration all over my skin. It is amazing how greedy and self-centered people are when it comes to their surroundings. In order to ensure their own existence (and, sadly, their entertainment), they are willing to destroy other lives. The thing of the matter is that they do not understand how things actually work in nature - there is a sensible balance that has to be respected at all times. Without animals, nature will start crumbling and eventually, human kind will be destroyed along with it (which, at this point doesn't seem that much of an issue to me seeing how individuals are completely dehumanized and are up for harming for the fun of it. This unwritten pro-cruelty policy of the average human shocks me to this day.).

Back on the topic, there must be a gap in the educational system. Any contact that people and wild animals have is based on the invasion and habitat-stealing and hunting for sports that humans force the animals to face every single day. When they have little food and low life conditions, the natural reactions for every living creature is to turn around and look for other options. This is where lions may start looking like a threat to humans. And I will admit that attacks on humans are valid, but should the humans keep to themselves, then even those would be reduced.
Those who are capable of protecting and interfering with the mistreatment of animals are generally uninterested in the matter and put other responsibilities above the ones regarding wildlife, thus leaving the groups that are trying to spread awareness with cuffed hands.
It is sickening, sad and disturbing to witness the point humanity has reached, but I still hope that there is a chance for the natural world to find the treatment and protection it deserves before it gets too late.

I can't believe that...That's really disturbing! I love big cats and seeing lions becoming extinct like that and at this speed...Well, I understand that Africa is a poor place and cattle is very important there, but it's hard to just watch while the lions are disapearing one by one because of cattle, and we can't just change the lion's instincts, for them a cow is a prey just like a zebra or a gazzele...

Sad but The farmers need to protect their cattle
but then again the lions need to eat and with all the
game that has been hunted. The lions are running out of food sources
if only the farmers could find an different way to protect their livestock.
