The Story of Stuff

Post by Songdog » Tue May 19, 2009 5:53 pm

Have you ever wondered how your fancy new iPod was made, or maybe where your computer came from? It came from all over, but we're not the ones to pay for it.

This is a very informational video I suggest that everyone watch. It really explains a lot and will indeed make you more conscious about what you buy, throw out, and waste. We watched it in our AP Environmental Science class. It will only take a few minutes of your life. I suggest you send it to your friends and family and classmates to make them more aware of how "stuff" comes to be.

The video does address some political issues of the United States, but they are at least somewhat factual and do not make up the bulk point of the video. When it comes to the environment, politics were always be involved in some way. I still think the value of the video outweighs the political stuff in the video.

*sigh* wish I could "save" this thread with out having to post something. Nothing to reply yet since I can watch the video on my connection.

It is sad where stuff comes from.

Chocolate ruins the lives of so many people. Look for "fair trade" chocolate if you HAVE to have some. The chocolate industry is just as bad as the diamond industry.

And then there is the issue of how bad the construction of the batteries for some of the hybrid cars pollute the area they came from. (I forget what it was, but they were directly poisoning either the ground and plants or the water sources.)

I might ask my Geography teacher to put this on for us in class. She can't say it's not relevant, because we're doing about the Environment and how we can save it at the moment. Maybe some of my classmates will pick up a few tips from this video, eh? (^_-)
