Saving Electricity

Post by April » Mon Mar 30, 2009 8:18 pm

Electricity plays a big role in our every day life. Whether it be driving, cooking, entertainment, etc. Lots of electricity comes from daming, wind power, and other sources.

Although there is a lot of electricity to go around, some ways they make electricity is not environmental friendly. Sometimes we use way more electricity than we need to.

Just some suggestions on how to save electricity is using only the lights on in the house that you are using. Ex.Don't leave the light down downstairs if you or nobody else is down there. don't leave the tv running, that kind of thing.

Some people buy solar panels because they can save more electricity and it's environmental friendly. Although this costs a lot of money, and is expensive and sometimes useless in certain climates.

Don't drive when you don't need to. And walk when you can.

Yeah, I'm all day long reminding my family to keep the light off.
Any way, a good way for saving energy is using solar energy in the mornings and afternoon. Something that almost everyone forgets about.

Also, if in your classroom they use lights and you have windows, ask your teached if you can turn the lights off, but only if the solar energy is enough as for to illuminate your classroom.

Also, in the middle of a summer day you can leave the lights on because the sun already gives you light. I do that and lots of other stuff .
Sometimes I just don't know what avatar to wear.

Buy rechargeable bulbs that save more energy, also turn off the computer or TV by the electric plug button instead of just leaving it on stand by

I get annoyed with my family a lot. They like to turn on the TV then walk away.My sister takes about 30 minute showers, and my brothers like to turn on every light in the house. They, are not doing anything to help save electricity xD.
Eclipse
I hear them getting closer
Their howls are sending chills down my spine
And time is running out now,
They're coming down the hills from behind

Good topic, April! Some was that I attempt to save electricity or, suggestions, are-

-Not leaving something plugged in that charges, like an iPod charger or a laptop charger. This saves electricity and prevents potintial fires from startings.

-Try not to leave something on when you're not using it. It's a waste of electricity.

Also, use your natural rescources. If you want to read and it is sunny, open the windows and get some light. One of the important things NOT to do, though, is to keep the windows open while air conditioning/heating is on. It ruins the purpose, and wastes elecricity and nice air.

Often newly builded houses are using heaters that do use electricy instead of gas. If you leave your windows unnesesary open and its colder then you want it to be in your house its just a waste of energy if you do activate the heater at the same time or after it. Also, in the winter, when the sun is shining into the rooms of your house, You could even turn of your heater (gas/electrcity savings!) and warm your house with the help of the sun alone. Me and my parents are able to live in that way. We are not using our heater until end of october till the middle of march. after this point we do not have to use if till the end of the next october.

I usually take long showers, and I try not to, because its wasting water. Don't leave more than one light in a room, unless one is not enough. (In my basement, we have like 12 lights, and during the day I keep them all off, besides, it causes a glare on the tv.)
