Volunteering

Post by Tally » Sun Oct 19, 2008 10:44 am

I have volunteered my time at several wildlife rehabilitation programs. I have prepared food, cleaned poop, cleaned the facility, and exercised some of the smaller creatures. A lot of it is really hard manuel labor and very smelly, but there is no way to describe the satisfaction you get from helping. It gives you a warm glow inside. I love helping out, but it is very hard to find nearby places that need help. Does anyone know of a website of all the places that need volunteers? I would love to find some places nearby.

I don't know of any volunteer sites but I volunteered to help a few times at the St. Louis Zoo.

I really want to volunteer, but all of the places that involve animals are either too far away, or they expect you to be an adult. My intrest is in animals and not sorting papers all day. I do that in August anyhow. :(

The good thing about the place where I volunteer is that after you are done with the chores, you also get to go in with the animals. There are certain rules and restrictions you must follow, but its very enjoyable. The rules are for the animals comfort and security.

I wish I could, but so far I haven't found any places that don't require you to be 14 or over. -.-
