Slender

Post by rexyplexy » Fri Aug 03, 2012 12:09 pm

(I haven't seen a topic yet for this game, so....)

Slender is a horror type of game where you find yourself in a fenced in forest, not really knowing what's going on. The goal is to collect eight pages of paper that are scattered through-out the forest and as you find them, the slender man starts to show up more and more. If you look at him too long or get too close it's game over; the game is pretty scary.

More info here: http://www.slendergame.com/

I'm only up to two pages....

I was playing this game the other day and it scared my half to death. I think I was all the way to four pages and I hadn't even caught sight of the guy, then out of nowhere there's static then my screen just flashes to play. Then there's the music which is just to scary for words.. I'm shuddering right now just thinking about it.

I watch Pewdiepie play it... Scared to death D: It was very interesting though. Deep concept for a game.

I was watching gameplays of it on Youtube. It was scary doing just that. Now I'm a coward.

I've been able to get all eight pages. But only once.
Every time I've played after that - he gets me in the house when I'm at six or seven pages.

Slenderman doesn't start coming after you until you pick up the first page anyway. The whole concept of Slenderman is that he goes after people who look for him - so if you don't actively search for him, you should be safe.

Here's a few tips for the game for those who are struggling:
  • When you pick up a paper, he's behind you, sometimes at an angle.
When you pick up the paper, sprint forward and don't look back.
As soon as you see crackling/hear white noise, it mean he's in front of you somewhere - so turn around in a half circle and run.
Because you won't see him until you get the first paper, it may be a good idea to wander around the map and note the locations of any papers you see, but don't pick them up.
If you are using this method, try not to get too close to papers, or stay around them for too long.

It wasn't really the setting or Slenderman that got to me. It was the music. The music wasn't really even eerie; it was more like it was building anticipation...

There's music?

I thought it was just sound effects...

Yeaaah. Probably best if I didn't play it. I'll probably watch someone else play it though except I'll minimize my screen.

I play it occasionally. Usually when it's dark out I forget I have it, and games like this aren't any fun in daylight. I can usually get to five pages, though I haven't been able to get any more than that seeing as he likes to kill me as soon as I pick up the fifth.

That music makes me so nervous. The sound effect that plays when he pops up next to/behind you is what gets me though.

I haven't played this game before, although, was watching Pewdiepie's videos of him playing the game with a friend from here ~ Even though it freaked me out a out, I'm sorta wanting to play the game for myself xD

I must agree with the whole music thing as well, when watching the videos the music did really just build up nerves and what not.

Also, out of curiosity, to those who have managed to collect all the 8 papers, what happens after that?

I don't find it too scary. |D

I've watched every one of PewDiePie's gameplays, and currently downloading the game.

Ahaha, watched a couple of playthroughs and waiting for my brother to come back home (Friday/Saturdayish) to play this with him. We both can't really stand this kind of stuff so this is going to be hysterical.
