Re: Help Stop Gobal Warming

Well, we can stop our effect on it if we work hard enough. But for now, yes, we are really just looking at slowing it down. In the future, though, scientists hope to find ways to reverse it and get the climate back to what it should naturally be.

Re: Commonly Confused

Moose/Elk/Deer (For U.S.) Moose have broader antlers, often referred to as a rack. Only males have antlers. In some places, it can reach several inches in width, and it is more horizontal than vertical. Moose are a dark brown color, and are very large- they can easily reach 7 or 8 feet at the wither...

Re: Rhinos Are Released on UmPhafa at Last

I'm not totally sure either, but the reasons listed by wolf567 are probably pretty accurate. I don't believe the reserve buys them, though. Zoos can rarely release, because they lose so much money. Odd as it sounds, there is very little buying/selling of animals in the zoo world anymore. It is mostl...

Re: Saw a wild cougar in town!

I know that cougars are shy, but us people cannot kill them because of their claws and size. They are too fast to catch lol. I think the cougars were mates because the second one was bigger than the first one. I figure the smaller one was the female and the bigger one was male.  ...

Re: What is your Ecological Footprint?

4 earths :( Mainly because we live in a small town, so my parents have to drive a ways to work, my bus ride is 20 minutes each way, and we eat a lot of dairy, and a decent amount of meat. Our biggest downfalls were food and services. We are working on cutting down on meat, though, along with a few o...

Re: How do you Reduce, Reuse, Recycle?

I'm really eco-oriented, and I'm trying to increase the number of thing that I do to help the environment. So far, though, this is what my family and I have accomplished: Reduce: -In the winter, we heat our house almost purely from our woodstove (we live in northern US, so it gets pretty cold withou...

If you are referring to my comment; I'm sorry if that offended you. I was not laughing at you, and I didn't mean to sound that way. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and I'm not trying to take that away from you. As I said, there are people who believe global warming doesn't exist or that it is no...

StormHowl- first of all, Thank You! I think anyone who steps out of their way to help wildlife or nature deserves a big congrats! Secondly, I'm not surprised that it had it's head stuff in one of the soda can rings; they are one of the biggest wildlife hazards. A note for everybody: Always cut open ...

Re: Rhinos Are Released on UmPhafa at Last

Yay! Although, it's insanely expensive to release animals- I wish governments and such could find a cheaper way to do it since it's for such a good cause. But this is excellent news, as white rhinos are almost extinct.

Re: Saw a wild cougar in town!

I can assure you, this almost never happens. In fact, I've never heard of it happening before... not in a standard street. Cougars are not vicious animals, and they are very shy. These were most likely rabid, or had been tamed/fed. Whatever the case, just remember to always respect wild animals, and...

Re: The "Big Bad Wolf" is a myth

Yes... I think it was merely that several centuries ago, people were more affected by the food chain. Now, even though we hardly ever see wild wolves, we still carry that perception, because wolves had to be viewed as a threat for people of earlier eras to survive. It is simply a matter of adaptati...
