Re: Animal Cruelty in SeaWorld

Wow. I haven't been on wolfquest in over a year and I just got an email saying that someone replied to my old post about Sea World. How did you find this? Was it on the front page still? If so, I'm really sad that this forum has been so inactive. Anyways, my views have shifted quite a bit over...

Re: Animals for science?

SolitaryHowl brings up an excellent point on dissecting animals normally raised for meat consumption. However, this leads us to think about the morality and sustainability of animal agriculture as a whole, which is a completely different discussion. I was tempted to create a topic here on WolfQuest...

Re: Animals for science?

I personally disagree with the use of animals in science, especially dissection, entirely. Although we might like to tell ourselves that these animals are humanely raised and killed, it really isn't so. Here's a video that investigates where animals bred to be killed for dissection come from: https...

Re: Have you ever touched a wild animal?

Should we be trying to touch wild animals? I'm no biologist, but I would think that we should be leaving wild animals alone, especially if you're not a trained professional.

Re: The Circus - Fun for Humans, Abuse for Animals

Abusing wild animals is really the only way to get them to do the unnatural tricks that they're forced to do. Besides, even if they didn't beat their animals, the circus life isn't a good one for any animal. But being beaten isn't good for them, doing those tricks isn't good for them. I think all i...

Re: “ Do Animals Have Feelings? ”

I definitely wouldn't say that animals are smarter than us, and I definitely wouldn't say that they're no different than us. I also disagree that the fact that animals don't pollute is an indicator that they feel emotions. I'll explain this in a bit. I recently watched a documentary called Survivin...

Re: Help Stop Gobal Warming

I added a bit about what climate change really means just to explain that. :) It's also important to remember that, even if scientists did alter their theory, which they have not, their job is to learn and they are always researching new information which may lead to a new conclusion. So it's not t...

Re: Help Stop Gobal Warming

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I believe in global warming and I truly have no idea what you mean by the Earth cooling down because we have climate records going back to the 17th century and the average temperatures are increasing. Here's a graph that goes back to the 1850s: http://ww...

Re: Elephant "Speaks" Like a Human

That's really cool! I was watching a documentary about neanderthals and I remember them saying that they spoke, but they talked very slowly because, although they had the mental capabilities to speak, their mouths and tongues hadn't yet evolved to speak as quickly as we do now. I think a lot of ani...

Re: BBC News - 'Surplus' giraffe put down at Copenhagen Zoo

I think the media and public attention this issue recieved, as well as other recent media releases concerning animal welfare such as documentaries like Blackfish and the Cove, are increasingly informing the public of issues they may have otherwise not given much thought to. In this sense, I think a...

Re: Help Stop Gobal Warming

I would like to address Seewah on the matter. First of all your speech was incredibly well-written and it's extremely important to question everything anyone tells you but, I have to say, I completely disagree. I'm researching climate change for a speech in front of the entire school as well (Coinc...
