Re: Pack dynamics and members

Hello, I recall "Yellowstone Wolves" by Douglas Smith & Daniel Stahler from 2020 has a lot of useful information for you, however a good bit is also already answered in the FAQ and discord WQ Q&A. 1. It's worth noting that some packs include unrelated individuals, and that plural breeding has been o...

Re: "Lights Out" -- A WQ Genetics Experiment

Another new update has entered public beta that allows players to directly view the genetics of mates. This makes this project even easier, as there is no longer a need to complete litters to test their genetics. The initial posts have been updated to reflect this new change. I'm excited to be able ...

Re: Bull elk sparring?

I saw a bull elk fight (rather, I only stayed to watch them do their little circling around bit) just the other week in AM. They will only fight around the beginning of an AM game; the farther along, the closer it gets to winter, and they won't pick fights anymore.

Re: Thoughts on new injury system?

Perhaps injuries could be rarer on tired or running prey, or if you get kicked off instead of letting go at a good spot, or on bites with bad damage-recoil ratio. A fantastic player can be punished by just RNG as it is now. Effects should have a cause. I also personally play on accurate. Functional...

Re: Thoughts on new injury system?

I don't think I've gotten a major injury at all yet while playing seriously, though I've been hosting rather than playing as a client, so latency could play a factor. Most clients seem to get at least one each game, but even with low health I haven't at all had issue. That said, the injury system is...

Re: "Lights Out" -- A WQ Genetics Experiment

I'm aware! I have potential plans change the goal; perhaps just to finding a KK mate for a KK wolf and seeing how awful their litters turn out to be.

Oh very nice! Awesome use for this; no need to open the game to have a peek at the maps anymore!

Re: "Lights Out" -- A WQ Genetics Experiment

I agree, genetics are very fun! I completed litters for both sickly pups from the first litter, so now I'm slowly working on the next, but you're right that they produce very small litters, haha. Hopefully we'll see!

Re: Calculating territory sizes

Yellowstone wolf territories average 300km² in real life, which is more than 6 times larger than the entire game map, but you can still calculate your territory size game-wise: The Slough Creek game map is 7km by 7km (so 49km²), and each hex as noted by the map is 750m or 0.75km in diameter. Assumin...

Super exciting stuff; never expected content to this degree! Being able to continue the family's life with your previous pups' help is fantastic news. Can't wait!

Assuming you mean your forum post in March, that thread is for forum username changes, as it says on the first page. If you want your 2.7/AE username changed, you need to send an email to the team: To change username: Please contact us at manager@wolfquest.org with at least four new usernames, each ...

"Lights Out" -- A WQ Genetics Experiment

"Lights Out" A WolfQuest Genetics Experiment In more recent updates, WolfQuest now shows the player wolf and their mate's K locus genetics on the info page. Due to this, several steps in the old plan are outdated, and I've decided to redo the experiment. The old experiment is beneath the spoiler be...

Re: Wolvden

I really enjoy games with genetics and things like that, but gosh is it confusing trying to organize everything for the future haha. I've been playing on and off (mostly fishing as well, whoops!). Rollovers are nice in that you don't have to stress about taking a break from the game, but they someho...

Re: Is it possible to have a second litter?

To have a second litter with the same wolves, you just go back to the main menu, create a new Slough Creek game with your wolf, and select your mate in the dropdown. (Note that if your wolf is an ironwolf, you need to delete their savegame in order to create a new one. This doesn't affect your wolf'...
