Re: how many things do wolves eat?

Wolves hunt a variety of animals, Moose, Elk, Caribou, Goats. Sometimes wolves will hunt even smaller prey though this it typically not an ideal source of food for a wolf. Wolves can eat around 25 pounds of meat in one sitting so small prey isn't enough to sustain a healthy diet. In Alaska wolves ha...

Re: Dreaming?

I've worked with wolves before and I've seen a lot of there behavior.

And yes the do twitch when sleeping, but I've never seen them twitch or move while asleep as much as I have seen dogs do.
However I have never heard a wolf bark, whether they were asleep or awake.

Re: The wolf hunt may be a temporary experiment

I found this article to be quite interesting. I can't say that I agree with it, however it does state a very valid point. If wolves are put back on the endangered species list again, they will continue to hunt and harass livestock and move closer to civilization. Which in the end will just cause mor...

Re: How do wolves hunt? Where do they bite?

Wolves hunt in packs. A pack usually consists of 5 to 10 wolves. Every pack has an alpha and an omega. The omega is usually left with babysitting duty's and such while the rest of the pack goes out and hunts. Sorry, but this part I had to point out as you are incorrect. The term "alpha" is debatabl...

Re: How is a black wolf born?

I'm sure that if one wolf in a pack had rabies the whole pack would be in trouble. Rabies is transmitted by body fluids, so if saliva, blood etc got into any other wolf that wolf would probably become infected. Although rabies probably could spread through sharing the same food etc, I would highly d...

Re: Penned wolf bites child in N. Idaho during tour

This was the parent's fault. You wouldn't go to a zoo and put your hand in a Lions, so don't do it to a wolf. Something the article forgot to mention is that the Mom lost custody of the child soon after the incident. Julia Griffin, of Naples, said her daughter was given permission to pet one of the ...

Re: A Wolf With No Sense of Smell or Taste

I couldn't find any info on this, but I would think that the wolf would still eat meat. If the whole pack was eating an elk I would think that a wolf without taste would still eat it, I don't think it would go by taste so much that it wouldn't eat. As for smell it probably would just make it more di...

Re: Domestic Dog Pack?

No dogs do not form packs. Dogs well get along with each other, and maybe work together at somethings, but its not the same as wolves. One of my dogs once had puppy's, and you could tell from an early age who the "omega" was. Although there was an "omega", it still wasn't quite the same as wolves. T...

Re: How long do wolves usually live?

7-10 years in the wild. And around 12- 15 in captivity.
This is from information that I have found on many sites and books.

Re: Infection from wounds

You English is fine. Yes wolves do heal a little faster than than humans, but not by much. Dogs and Wolves are also more tough than humans. A lot of wounds that would need medical attention for us(cuts that need stitches etc) wouldn't be so bad for them. Not necessarily. If anything, I would say it...

Re: Infection from wounds

Interesting topic! I would like to bring up a supporting question, hope this is ok: has it ever been studied if wolves possess some kind of ability to regenerate? (Just like humans and other animals, wound heals as time passes by... but how fast do the wounds heal?) Does anyone know an answer to th...

I think Dragonfly's are my favorite.
I used to have a fear of spiders when I was a kid, so I still really don't like them.
