Re: General Bird of Prey Discussion

I recently moved out west in the US, and was blown away by the number of raptors just on the side of the highway. Like Rough-legged and Ferruginous hawks. Oof, they are gorgeous. That and I saw some Golden Eagles cruising around. I have seen a few in Cape May and up in Appalachia Pennsylvania (I ac...

Re: Photography by Kivia

um, the way you were holding it is a good way for it to foot itself in the face if it started thrashing. Barn owls have such long legs that its best to hold them right below the ankle, that way you have control of the entire leg. i've had a barn foot the heck out of my arm by holding it that way, t...

Re: Photography by Kivia

I'm back with a new friend: a juvenile Eastern Screech-Owl from an educational falconry session I attended. He's going to be used as an education bird.

Re: Your "Nature" Jobs?

I volunteer at a society which reports wildlife sightings at a provincial park near where I live. It's a pretty casual gig, we essentially just send in reports of wildlife sightings or signs a few times a week. It helps the society keep the public updated about when migratory birds are coming in an...

Re: Announcing Episode 3: Tower Fall!

Very awesome to see some more life being breathed into this. It's just made me realize how long it's been since Episode 2 originally came out though. Crazy how the time flies. I know I've been a negative nelly in the recent past about my interest in the project ebbing over time, but I'm glad that I...

Re: What wildlife have you seen recently?

Do you see any bird activity in Finland? I'm sure there are probably some avian friends around. =)

I see something every day, but I guess some recent highlights have been the resident barred owl at the park by my work, as well as cardinals, juncos, mockingbirds, and squirrels. Nothing too crazy.

Re: NPS draft could add 20-20 wolves to Isle Royale over 3 y

I think the problem here is that they are just looking at that short term for Isle Royale, rather than the long term. I'm reading the draft plan now and from how I'm reading it, they believe that wolves having been there for 65+ years seems sufficient enough to say that they should remain. 65 years...

Re: Moose

Maybe not a direct comparison, but it reminds me of how folks in the US will call bison "buffalo", while buffalo is more representative of the African or Asian bovine species.

Re: Moose

Holy facts, Batman. Thank you for the wealth of information, Pepper! And also for starting the topic, Blaze! If I ever did a little bit of traveling, I could probably see a moose. But I feel like I'd find their sheer size daunting. Like I don't even mess with the deer here, especially while driving...

Re: Photography by Kivia

Haven't taken many photos lately because my life revolves around work, but I did just buy myself a new camera (Nikon Coolpix P900). One of my first photos so far is a freehand pic of the moon to test out the zoom capabilities. May be going out to my local wildlife refuge in the coming days to test ...

Re: Pokémon

I just got the confirmation email from Gamestop that I have a copy of Moon ready for pick up, so it was a success! Funny though because the first Gamestop that I tried to reserve a copy at denied my request, so I was getting a little worried there. Just will have to drive the extra few miles to get...

Re: Pokémon

I'm a little upset because I pre-ordered Moon on Amazon, but then found out not long after that I would have to be in Ohio tomorrow. Changed the delivery address, and then the estimate for delivery was for Monday, which was when I intended on driving home. Tried to just completely reorder this past...

Re: Pokémon

Cause Decidueye is mah boyyyyy.
I didn't realize until a few days ago that Decidueye was Grass/Ghost. Ahhh, so excited. <3 I pre-ordered my copy of Moon yesterday.

I should be playing Yellow again on my 3DS- I never finished.
